That car.. with that mileage.. It was a good buy for a smart buyer. At that mileage you can use like it was designed (meaning drive it) and it will hold value. Or sit on it like a lot of folks seem to do.. and it'll be worth a nice chunk more in 5-10 years.

I bought mine to drive.. and I think thats what a 997 Carrera should be done with.. but the scarcity factor is a real thing. A 10k mile 997.2 in mint condition in 2030, that's gonna be something folks will pay a healthy upcharge for. Particularly in a color like that.

Is that the 'shock' button?
Yep, the shock button. Because it’s standard on the S models you won’t see it listed on the build sheet.

It was a "base" build aside from the Sharkwerks pipes and Gundo hack; no PASM, no full leather, although it had SC. That is probably a $60k car if it were a C4S, but again, it was a manual, base build at $94k and therefore tough to compare.
For reference, we just picked up a CPO 2012 997.2 C4S in meteor gray with 36k miles for $62k a month ago. It was a $124k build with PDK, PSE, SC, and bucket seats.

Yeah, there is also the "if I really fall in love with a car and don't want to keep it over 100k miles" sentiment, then a buyer who snags a very low mile car will have a few more years in it, vs the person who buys a 50k mile car and sells it at $90k; any mods are amortized over a longer period and the car "seems" cheaper. Mods are great if you hold a car for awhile; putting $8k into customization and selling the car in a year or 2 makes less sense. There are people like Wayne who will keep their 997.2 until the wheels fall off, and a low-mile car just means more time in the same car before the wheels fall off.

I, for one, hope to find the perfect 997 someday, and do a Sport Design-Speedster front bumper, a ducktail rear bumper, wheel upgrades, perhaps Ohlins or JRZ coilovers (I hear they do wonders) and maybe a set of GT2 buckets. That is serious money though, in addition to a lot of time spent, and I would want to be 100% sure I was going to keep the car 5 years+.

Speaking of buckets: how do the 18-way sport seats compare to the buckets? The price difference is $10k....

On the other hand, many of us "enjoy the hunt" and like to have different cars on a regular basis, so that premium for low miles is wasted for some people.

That car has been on Craigslist Chicago for a while. If I remember correctly, it has had some damage repairs.

As a reference, my local Porsche dealer sold a 40,000 mile 2008 Targa 4S manual in GT Silver for $47,000 in the spring of 2017. It was in great shape.

Mediocre. Mismatched tires, plastic dash - for that price and mileage you can easily get a 997.2.

I'm looking for a 997 C2S manual. I've never seen a similar .2 in this range. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough?

Ugh, that spoiler. The Automatic is a deal killer for me. I wonder how much it is to replace with a regular deck lid.
