I guarantee that I am NOT moving on from problematic car. I don’t think it’s appropriate to write out my life story when selling every single car.
Why not just change the oils and coil packs if that is truly all the car needs? Cheaping out on such basic maintenance issues, especially an oil change, would be sufficient to spook me.

With all do respect, and I would generally agree with you, but he hasnt disclosed, nor is it really our business on a forum, but perhaps his financial situation has changed such that spending any more on the car puts him in a difficult position....

I think that he has at the very least been honest in the ad with what it needs... and he doesn't owe a forum a full explanation of why certain things may or may not have been done... a potential buyer, yes, but not a public forum....

Just my two cents.

I have been burned by doing "maintenance" stuff to cars right before the sale and then buyer telling me "oh I like to do my oil changes myself when I buy a new car" so I just wasted $100+ for no reason. Then there are debates on what oil should be used... god forbid I use Liqui Moly instead of Mobil 1. So I let the buyer handle it themselves and know exactly how and what was done. This is my personal opinion and you have the right to disagree. I stated it in the post, not hiding anything.

Now coils is a bit trickier. I was quoted 4hrs of labor at $110 plus $120 per coil + spark plug making it over a $1,000 job at a reputable indy. I can buy the same parts online for around $350 total and its a DYI job (plenty of guides online) but unfortunately I don't have the space to do it myself right now. A lot of 997 buyers are DIY guys so I decided not to increase the price by over a $1000 due to doing something that can be done a lot cheaper by the new owner. The problem with coils appears ONLY when car is left under very heavy rain for over 24hrs. I drove it through heavy rain and hand car washes and its absolutely fine. I tested it when we had weeks of rain and narrowed it down exactly. So now I park it in garage all the time and don't have any problems. Again, this is disclosed in my ad.

You guys are taking information that I freely disclosed and turning it against me... I could have easily not mentioned anything about coils and oil change and no one would even notice it.

Like I said before, if you are interested in buying the car, please message me.

You'll love it. I have a C4 and the power difference between the 3.6 and 3.8 is minimal in street driving. Plus the wide body looks great.

That one you linked has full leather which is a huge plus in my opinion.

I've seen people do it on Turbos a few times. Not cheap but not incredibly hard to do if I remember correctly.

I'm on your side. Spend $1000 to do the coils and net $500 on the sale? No way. It's standard maintenance and if that's all that needs to be done then it's a non issue. Just deferred. Give the next guy something to do.
Very different if a car has damage or multiple issues. From what I've read it doesn't seem to be the case here.

Seems like a great C4S! GLWS. I would check it out as a second 911 if it was closer...

Wow, nice looking C4S! I may have a friend interested: please send me a PM. He is looking to spend around $40k for a 997.1 and recently has missed out on a couple of local cars.

Suncoast sells the full 997.2 kits to upgrade the 997.1 to .2. Do you have a CarFax? I wonder if it was in some sort of rear end collision to justify the upgrade (if you're going to replace everything, might as well updated it) and the bumper paint is slightly off from the metal paint. Silver is difficult to color match.

Hopefully I'm not busting someone's secret.

2008 911 Turbo $50k
Black on Black Cab, Tiptronic 55K miles. 2 accidents, but neither was a total.

Not affiliated, but was just bored online and saw this
