Both, however, seemed a little more cautious about IMS than scoring FWIW, but both were pretty quick conversations without tremendous detail.
Jake said he hasn't seen much IMS issues with the later 997.1 but I wonder how many bore scoring has he seen with these engines?

Here is my thread with some photos of the white 08 I passed on. It had 17k not 7k miles. Sparked quit a discussion. I really, really like that car . . . Bought a stupid 2017 M3 Competition Package instead of this white 997.1. I really, really don't think much of my M3 and am already trying to sale it . . .

I read your whole thread, quite interesting read. I agree with one of the members that said if there's a small fraction of failed engines due to bore scoring, that could only mean it's due to the driver. Obviously if you dog your car it will most likely break down quicker. Which ever model I choose, I'm going to do a PPI with bore scoping to inspect. Then take take some of the preventative advice like colder thermostat, change oil more frequently,10 minute drive warm up etc. The most important thing is the previous owner and how well he treated his car. Buy a car from a PCA member would be ideal.
How much did that white 08 sold for do you know? Yeah it was absolutely gorgeous. I like the aero kit minus the wing tail. I prefer the stock retractable tail.

M3 is great at what it is: a useable sedan and family car that is fun to drive. Not a 911 however!

I got into German cars after I got bored with everything else. Researched Mercedes and BMW and concluded BMW breaks down too often and expensive to fix, well they all are expensive to fix. Went and test drove quite a few MB & BMW's. BMW's are more responsive and fun to drive but the interior didn't excite me. MB by far has the best and most luxurious interior I've seen. Ended up getting a turbo MB and it is quite fun to drive. It was my gateway to German cars and now I want something even more fun and exciting to drive. Next logic step is a Porsche, been test driving 996 & 997.1 and absolutely love them! Haven't found the right one that checks all my ticks yet but I'm very hopeful. I'm not in a hurry and still researching as I go. Just can't wait until I have one in my garage!

Yeah not the most desirable in regards to the transmission but looks great and has low mileage. The tiptronics are still desirable for the ladies and folks who commute in traffic.

I would never let my wife buy a Tiptronic.

Nice looking car. Super clean. It is throwing an airbag sensor code but that’s nothing major. That might be the one you were looking and waiting for.

It would definitely be a candidate for me if only it was a coupe. I'm not into cabs unfortunately.

Are you willing to buy a car out of state? Ideally I'm trying to find one within 500 mile radius from me and I know this eliminate a lot of potentials out there. I just can't find myself forking out this much money buying a car site unseen. I'm also hesitant to fly out there in hopes that the car is what I want and drive it home. I guess this is why it's taking me so freaking long to find one...?
