Default Also now looking at 997.2 Manual Turbos

I do agree Abe. I prefer the engagement of a manual so I've also been looking at the last manual Turbo (2012). This one looks like a good specimen. It's priced here on Craigslist ($142.5k) but is "POA" at Ryan Friedman. Mileage isn't low so it seems on the expensive (+$20k??) side and what's going on with the exhaust?

Any opinions for the newbie? Thanks folks.

Looking at the price with "Porsche specialty shop" in the text, I knew something was very wrong. It didn't even need a Carfax to be run to say "run away". No shop would sell a car at that price. Occasionally, one gets lucky with a franchise dealer (Ford, for example) that gets a nice 997 on trade and doesn't value it correctly. That never happens at specialty shops that primarily shop auctions for their cars. These guys usually have lower inventory and have to make a certain amount on each car. Some of the best deals I have run across are at franchise dealers, and those cars go in a day or 2.

Hello all! Love this forum and love the thought of being a new 997 owner. BLUF: I am 31, Active Duty USAF and been around for 11 yrs serving various assignments and deployments. Wife and I have agreed to finally jump into the Porsche world and after much research (and price) I've landed on owning a 997 S as my first. Budget I am working with is up to 43k but I really want to stay around the 38k and under for a good example. This thread has been very helpful and I'll be active in it as I am in the hunt (January) for my first. I do have a garage and this will be a pleasure only car (we daily an 01 Lexus and 02 4Runner) for spirited drives and the casual cars/coffee meets. So under 100k miles is the goal but the 80-90k range is not out of the question since Ill put fewer than 3k miles in a year. Anyways, can you all look at these examples, some of these I'd have to have a PPI done and have it shipped (far NY or CA) so im really investing alot into research of the 997 markets. Thank you all!

Love everything about it except carfax shows a single accident, thoughts? Also, doesnt look like it has PASM?

Right up my alley and close to what I want, 90k miles, sounds well maintained and clean carfax (single owner) thoughts?

Amazing car, at top of my range and would need a PPI plus shipping, interior flawless and unique (red/black leather from the factory)... not really logistically my favorite option.

Up my alley, love most things about it, no PASM I believe? Fender bender but seems well repaired, clean title.
https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

Carfax shows 2-3 front/rear collisions, clean title, repaired, seems like the dealer just wants to get rid of it...great opportunity to own a 991 Manual? or stay far away?!

I wouldn’t compromise on no PASM. It matters. Accidents aren’t a biggie for me. The silver has tons of miles for that price...would be interested in that car for low 30s.

The Texas car has been listed for a while, so you could possibly buy the car for less than the asking. Isn't PASM standard on all S's? Maybe I'm thinking of the 997.2. Also, personally I would pass on the 991 Base, I had one and the low end performance of the 3.4 in that car is disappointing IMO.

The owner of that car is a friend of mine. He's looking to sell it to get into an R8. It's a really nice car and he takes excellent care of his stuff. If I were in the market I'd consider buying it myself. Though I think the price is bit high.

It's heartbreaking to see an 06 with a blown IMSB.

The owner did a really good job on the upgraded bumpers. I especially like the rear.

My (previous) car that I just traded in for a 911 targa GTS 991.2. Seems like a fair price.

Got excited about this one. Don’t care about full leather but PDK a deal breaker.

Here is an interesting car with a highly motivated seller (tax issues). I like it, but want a CAB.
