Say no to Florida cars.
Also, I wouldn't buy a used car from Florida.

Here are a couple of good looking cars at Carmax. Thoughts on pricing for these? I think they are competitive for the current market, and to get a mid-mileage base 997.2 under 40k is really tough. Manual 997.2 C4S are hard to find as well (ask me: it took me a year to find one).
Base 2009 997.2 PDK with 55k miles in Aqua for $36,900

Manual 2011 997.2 C4S in silver with 31k miles for $62,900 (looks like it is now reserved, but was available last night, so who knows. I saw a car on there that was reserved 5 weeks ago (991 C4S) pop back up. Sometimes these transfers take awhile, and the sale can fall through for whatever reason).

SPASM is a lot different: different dampers, springs, sway bars. Elephant quoted me about $3800 to swap parts over to SPASM, not including labor. For that money though, I would put Ohlins on the car.

The biggest "flaw" with their system is that there is no way to be the "backup buyer" on a reserved car, and no way to be notified when a car goes off reserve. I don't think you will even get a second email if you have an automated search set up, as it isn't a "new" listing.
Bottom line, if you see one you like and are personally interested in, reserve it right away! Absolutely before posting it on Rennlist ;-) Then go look at it, see all the crappy touch up paintwork Carmax likely did to it and the rough interior, and release the reservation? Just kidding, they occasionally get a good car, but they get LOTS of lower quality Porsches that look fine online.

It takes literally nothing more than a mouse click to reserve a car at Carmax. Sometimes cars are reserved literally dozens of times and shipped all over the place before actually transacting, partially because many Porsches at carmax are a bit rougher than most of us would expect.

there are some good deals though. Eduardo got that silver 991.2 from Carmax (listed for sale last month) for about $7k less than it should have cost at the time. I thought about selling my Tundra a few months ago, and they offered me a solid $2k more than the local Toyota dealer. If you are selling a car, always give them a shot!
No experience buying from them, but I know some have had positive experiences. Other times, probably transfer money down the drain

I just went through this exact process. Reserved it, had it shipped to my carmax for $199, saw it and drove it then realized it didn't speak to me at all. Better off looking for newish cars. This was a 2012 Carrera Black Edition I looked at.

Ah! no wonder... Thanks for clarifying!
