PDK, Water Pump and Mirror
My PDK seemed in the last two weeks to slip and car not move at a stop. Also I took my car to a long time Porsche mechanic to change oil and he noticed a possible water pump leak. Oh and mirror motor wasn't working. I purchased the Fidelity Premium Extended warranty and glad I did. received a call from Walter's and said need new PDK, Water Pump and Mirror motor. They said the PDK would cost $8000 so they have the Fidelity guy coming tomorrow to sigh off on repair. Do they put a newer version of the PDK in? So my Fidelity investment was worth it and I was hoping the trans would fail prior to Fidelity running out.

Wow, sorry to hear that and hoping Fidelity does its job. Can you explain what you mean by "to slip and car not move at a stop?" The reason I ask is that mine is 2009 S 20 K miles and in non-sport modes these is a noticeable pause before 1st is engaged and I get going. Pretty much goes away with sport and sport+ modes. Does that sound about normal. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid but...Thx.

The pause is sometimes called the thump as to when it engages into second. As to slipping when I gave it gas the trans and engine would increase in RPM but it would not go anywhere for a moment but them engage and take off.

You will get a new PDK from PCNA...there are no parts or rebuilt aftermarket type of PDK transmission.
Nice you got the insurance, I've said it before and saying it again...I would never ever own a PDK car with out a warranty to cover it. There's no fixing or parts just total replacement.

MSRP for a PCNA re-manufactured PDK for my car which came from the factory with the Porsche LSD is $8,350, plus core charge. Suncoast quoted me $7,100 +/-, plus $4,177 core charge. All of the above do not include labor which could be 6-8 hours including PIWIS flash. The $7,100 has a substantial amount of profit in it. It is not inconceivable that an indy, paying substantially less than $7,100 for it, especially w/out LSD, could provide one for $8k. There were none in the US for my VIN. It is coming from Germany.

Mine is being replaced at Walter's Porsche and is a factory replacement. I asked them as to the $8,000 vs. the $14,000 and the difference is they didn't add in the labor. Will be ready to pick up next Tuesday.

It takes less than a day, maybe even half a day to swap a transmission for a pro. Let's say they charge 8 hours, that's $750/hour.

PDK Trans Suncoast price
Just being curious I contacted Suncoast and they quoted me $6531.71 if I give them the core or old PDK. If no core the cost is $10,708.82. Obviously they have come down in price.

L(imited)S(lip)D(ifferential): Both the 911 Carrera and Carrera S Coupes offer optional limited-slip differentials.
This feature is available with both manual gearbox and PDK double-clutch
transmission. The limited-slip is mechanical and provides 22 percent lock under
power and 27 percent in overrun. The limited-slip works in concert with the standard
Porsche Stability Management (PSM) to further improve traction on varied surfaces
and when driving enthusiastically, especially around curves.
They ask for the VIN so they can select the appropriate transmission and options that match the features your car had originally. I'm guessing yours might not have had one based on the lower price you were quoted but that is just a guess. How long did it take for Walter's to get the replacement PDK from PCNA to their shop? Thanks.
