Default Tire Wear

Just thought I would pass along my experience with my Bridgestone Potenza tires. The rears are being replaced at 23,000 miles, the fronts are at 40% tread remaining at the same mileage. I do not track the car.

Wow that is impressive. I have avoided those due to reports I have seen of 8,000 mile tread life. Good to know...

Cool. I have S0-4s too w/6k miles on them. Even with a very aggressive alignment, I don't see any wear. No complaints about noise or handling either.

High mileage tire wear is over-rated.

If your fronts are nearing +5 years old, they are worthless regardless of remaining tread depth.

Where did you get +5 years old from?

Oh. Sorry. I just assumed his fronts are, or will be, getting close to +5 years old before they wear out if he/she is experiencing that good of tread life.

I have a few hundred miles on my new S-04s (235/305). Bought them (on sale) because I couldn't get the MPSS. I gotta say, I'm very pleased with them so far. They seem much quieter and stickier than the RE050s they replaced. I had PS2s in 305 on the NB car, and these S-04s perform a lot like those did. Maybe the PS2s are slightly better tires overall, but it's close (again, so far). Haven't tried the MPSS yet, and I'm going for them next, but it's good to know people are pleased with their S-04s — enough so that they'd start a new thread to let us know! Thanks for sharing.
