Spreadsheet of most 996/997s for sale nationally
As an analyst, for every car purchase I've ever made I always make a spreadsheet for peace of mind to make sure I get exactly what I'm looking for at the best price. Here's how I do it:
Build search engines for Autotrader, Craigslist (Autotempest), eBay, CarMax, CarGurus and more. with daily/weekly updates.
Use this spreadsheet as a template and begin adding any and all new cars.
Includes:
Ownership History and Score per paid-for Autocheck
VIN
Mileage
Location
Owner or Dealer Car
Modifications
Interior/Exterior Color
Contact Information and Listing link
and lastly a Basic Ranking System to thin the herd.
I've been keeping this up to date for about the past 2 months to track the national prices on our cars. This spreadsheet is the closest thing you'll see to getting a real indication on what's happening in the market.
1st Tab: 996s - I was pretty focused on a set budget for this. This includes mostly all cars under $30k
2nd Tab: 996/997 Turbos - As I've been building my C4S, I got curious about TT prices. I can tell you this is nearly 100% of the TTs available as of last week under about $75k.
There's a lot of hours in this, for those that are curious...enjoy!

For my own means and needs at least, and this is seriously just one man's opinion, but once I got into the $40-70k range there was no way I wouldn't be taking home a Turbo.
$30k-$40k - 996=C4S/Turbo - 997.1=C2S - 997.2= None
$40k-$50k - 996=Pristine Turbo/X50 - 997.1= C2S - 997.2= C2S/C4S
$50k-$60k - 997= Mid-Mileage Turbos
$60k-$70k = Coming close to 991 territory. Low mileage 997 Turbos.
There's lots of great deals on C2S right now in the 30s that look like absolute steals. Waiting on the 2009 C2S's to come down...would make an insanely good track/weekend car

Nice work. Cool to see it laid out like that and easily searchable. Shows that the prices haven't really changed since last year when I bought mine.

I'm still hosting this if anyone feels like providing a 2017 update.
I haven't had time to automate pulling the data but from just searching around it looks as though all 996s have hit their bottom while 997 C2/C4s are still coming down. 997 GTS/GT3/Turbos are still holding.
