A dilemma so big it hurts

A dilemma so big it hurts
So i'm patiently hunting for my first P car. Decided it should be a late 997.1 manual or a 997.2 man or pdk. Coupe as i think the shape of the cab is distorted plus the climate here is not that cab-friendly.
And of course irony and destiny hit. A guy that i know, trust and worked with is selling his 997.1s 2008 low milage manual perfect color perfect interior, good price but...IT'S A CABRIO!
And i'm just looking at this car, i know its history, has everything i wanted, i trust and know the seller but...i just can't. But it's also very hard to let this one go... Sorry. I needed to get this one out.

Wait..... get what you want. There are plenty of owners who baby their cars and won't take them out in the rain.... they sell. Never fall in love with the first girl at the dance.

And never sell to a friend or relative!
I have always told people to hold out for what you want. Its a big investment that most hope to not make again for a very long time. No sense in spending that kind of money and not being 100% satisfied with the purchase.

+1. Doing biz with friends is the fastest way to lose friends. Relatives? Well, your stuck with them. I'd make a list of must-haves, and then don't compromise on those. The hunt is half the fun! Oh yeah, post pics when you land your dream car!

Definitely hold out for what you want. Sounds like you have a good idea exactly what that is! I went down that path a year ago, narrowed down exactly what I wanted and why. I luckily found within a few weeks 95% of what I wanted through a nationwide search for a CPO P car. Thanks to the physician who had a 4-year old driven only 8k miles who decided he wanted a '15! It looked as if it had sat in my garage for that time instead of his!

If you don't want a "distorted" cabriolet, then don't buy one. This is your first Porsche. Buy the one you want.
FWIW, my cabriolet isn't distorted at all. Maybe that one was wrecked and your friend didn't tell you!

They're two differently cars really. If you want a coupe, forget this one. People who want a cab, specifically want a cab. Different buyers. Just look for a coupe. Nothing to stress out about.

Both previous posts are spot on....you definitely want maintenance history AND, as for cab vs coupe, that's why ice cream shops sell vanilla and chocolate...buy what you really want! They're out there, be patient!
