997.1 Carrera vs Carrera S
First time poster after purchasing a 2007 Carrera S cab two weeks ago. I am upgrading to Eibach springs this week and have been scouring the Forum for spacer advice. Running 19" "lobster claw" wheels with 295 rears
I am almost convinced that 8mm/10mm front rear is the ticket for me. I followed member EMC2's posts about his upgrade and it looked perfect but it was on a Carrera not Carrera S.
My question is, how much wider, if at all, is the rear body work on the Carrera S? Am I safe with the 8mm/10mm set up or will the rear still have a lot of gap? I would like wheel/tire to still be within the wheel well and not sticking out.
Thanks and I know this is heavily discussed but I am trying to find the right fit form me. Can't return the spacers if they are not right I am told.

The Carrera and the Carrera S have the same body. The Carrera 4, 4s, GTS and Turbo all have wider rear fenders but the same front fender widths as Carrera S. The 997.1 Carrera wheels are affectionately called "lobster fork" wheels as they resemble a lobster fork. The 8mm/10mm spacers will work just fine without the tires sticking out beyond the fenders.

Thanks and thanks for the clarification on the wheels. I thought I had heard or seen them being referred to as "claw" but now know. thanks for confirming what I was thinking on the spacers

I was told that the area between 7mm - 15mm was a deadzone for hub-centric spacers. I put 15mm on my car once but they were too wide for my taste.

You'll be getting new longer wheel bolts with your new spacers. Try and get something that does not rust.
I toss the wheel lock bolt. Bad guys bust your window the get the key that's in your glove box or frunk.
Get 20...
Or they take the whole car.

Great advice, everyone. Finally had my Eibach Pro Kit springs installed. Very subtle lowering but you can see the more aggressive stance. But it does not looked really "dropped" and low. I like it. I think H&R's are a bit lower.
As for the spacers, I went with 8mm front and 10mm rears (ECS spacers, hub centric). I like the rear, stays within the fender, front could have handled 10mm as well but still looks good. With stock 19" Porsche rims I would suggest at least 10mm front.
Just quick update. Thanks again for the replies and to Rennlist for a great forum

We need photos of your success!!
I'm considering doing the same to my car - Eibach springs and spacers on the front/rears of my black Lobster Claw rims.
I had H&R springs on my previous Porsche and it sits lower than 1" after it settles and I found the ride very jumpy and annoying.

I have a 2008 Carrera, not the S. I am running 20s all around. 245 Front with 305 Rear and have 14MM H&R spacers all the way around with no issues even on the track.
You should be fine, question for me would be why not go wider??

So you happen to have OZ wheels and 14mm spacers. But that doesnt mean every guy with a carrera and 20" wheels can have 14mm spacers all around. It matters what offset your wheels are. I think you may have a OZ wheel that needs 14mm spacers to fit to the car. It all depends on the wheel offset and width.

Will post some pics (if I can figure out how to on the site) this weekend. With OE wheels I feel like the front could have gone wider (and I am not as aggressive as some on her that push thinks really out). I like them to still be within the wheelwell but not sticking out. will post soon. Thx. yes the 20" aftermarket with different offset will affect spacer choice

I can't return the spacers at this point so will be in search of some 15mm hub centric spacers (used) to try out. Will also try my 10mm in front to see how that works out.
thanks again for all of your input

Finally getting some photos on here to show results. Thoughts on the front spacers...10mm should be no issue and maybe even 15mm would work. Thoughts?
