The car is just noticeably better all the time - you don't need to be on a track or a pro driver to feel it, as I'm neither.

If you go with Bilsteins, install the fronts with a roller bearing thrust washer so that the coil spring doesn't rotate, bind, and make a pop noise as it unbinds. Some do this and others don't, but the thrust bearings is cheap insurance that it won't happen on yours. You can get them off of eBay and I can probably find the bearing # for the correct dimension one for the Bilsteins.
that would be great, please let me know... i am hearing something from the springs when sport mode is on, don't know if this is what i am hearing, but every bit helps...

The stock springs don't have this binding issue, only the Bilstein coilovers. If you're getting suspension noises with the stock setup, it could be a shock going bad, a dry sway bar bushing, or something else.

When things that are normally more compliant like shocks are set to normal, you may not hear things because the shocks are doing more of the work. When you stiffen those in sport mode, it might transfer more force to something that is beginning to wear. Could be the ball joint in a lower control arm, bushing in a dog bone (if noise is from the rear), etc.

Picked up some CF mirrors a few weeks ago and got a chance to get them installed today. Complement the CF stone guards nicely. Wish the RUF rear upper wing was still the original CF finish and that the PO hadn't color matched it to the car, but se la vie.

Impressively sweet machine!. I grew up marveling at RUF/AMG (hammer) e al.
Especially RUF. mean, muscly and looking otherwise ready to best the lot, but not shouty like Gemballa. Looks like you brought it to the point of perfection.

Kompressor is supercharged correct? I know the Germans call turbos turbos.
anyhoo, really NICE!

Had a great day today!

Because of the RUF modifications on my car, relative rarity, and the extensiveness of the other upgrades (suspension, interior, etc), Hagerty has written an Agreed Value policy on it under their Modified/Tuner classification, so I now have peace of mind should the unthinkable happen in that I'll be able to replace it with something as nice and unique vs fighting with my regular carrier on what my particular '05 997 is worth. It now joins my 914 and 928 Spyder under the Hagerty umbrella.

I submitted lots of documentation, including RUF Registry info, a spreadsheet with replacement costs of all the currently installed upgrades including web links to the specific product pages to the vendors who sell them, and a bunch of photos.

This isn't likely an option for those of you that DD your 997s, but I'm very relieved to have this type of coverage in place on this particular car. As a future side benefit, it pulls the more expensive vehicles off my regular policy that my children will eventually be added to in a few years, which may save me some money at that time.

Cheers.

Hope you never need it but they are a great company to work with.

Me too x10 and yes, they are - I've had my 914 with them for probably 15 years and my 928 for a couple.
