I'd recommend ignoring this advice.

No no don't ignore his advise! In Fact he wants you to buy a 996 Carrera.
The 996 Carrera is the greatest 911 ever made and is pure

furthermore do not buy a 4s like SpeedyD usless awd cars..stupid LED and Wide bodies... They are more money because people can't drive. That's why they retail for more

Never take car advice from anyone who purchases a 996. It shows poor decision making skills and lack of good judgement.

John, I've been trying to give you a break. I really have. But all I've got left is ...

Good choice. To me, my priority would be the manual transmission first. then, the direct injected engine, and finally the price and warranty. I really didn't want to worry about the IMS however small that odds were.

Like you, of the 3 cars you had mentioned, I would go with the 997.2 even with the PDK.

BTW, I love fat @SS too.

Must be the first post ever suggesting PDK is better w/o sport chrono. Difficult to take seriously but please elaborate if you think everyone else is missing something.

Yikes, for 991 money you might be able to get a 997.2 GTS, a better option in my opinion. Both out of my league for now and that's why I ended up with a 997.2 base 6-speed. I'm very happy with the car for the price point!

It's ok for it to become a difficult task, it's a lot of money to spend. Of those 3 cars you originally listed, I would've ruled out the '09 immediately because it's an automatic (personal choice).

Then I would've ruled out the '05 because it is grossly overpriced simply because of having only 13K on it (and who knows, maybe it got driven 10K in the first year and 3K the last 9!). I personally wouldn't touch a garage queen like that with a 10 ft pole. The IMSB issue in '05 is a non-issue. I had mine retrofitted with the LN at 30K, haven't given it a thought since. It's got 61K on it now.

If I sell my '05 for another Porsche it would be a 991, assuming I can find one I like with a manual.

psssssssssh Fast @SS CLUB

To each there own, I did not like the 991... It was either a 991 Base for me with Sports chrono plus (blue color) 35,000 miles PDK pasm. or the 911 4s 22,000 with the same features- price wise was a wash. I went with the 4s... -installed the sports wheel with flappy paddles is a must-
Didn't get XM on my 997 though was on the 991...to cheap to pay for tha crap anyways
