Dont do it, every time you see one on the road, you will painfully miss it and the extra cash wont make you feel better. Every wend when you have a free moment and would be jumping in the 911 to go for spin, now you wont have that to do and that feeling of fun and enjoyment isnt easily replicated by anything else. Unless you decide to rent one from time to time at approx $700 a day, which then will make you wish you had your own back again.

In the last year and a Half I barely put 3000 on mine and some of that was driving it from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. And mine is also 3rd car and I cAnt imagine not still having it. I would end up endlessly searching for another one if I were to let it go

I also have 3 vehicles. But I will NOT sell it, even though the wife keeps suggesting I should!

I too have thought about your concerns of ownership of such an expensive third car,but... I resolved my dilemma by driving my 997 on enjoyable Porsche Club Tours, Parade, rallies, and mountain and seashore vacations, some of them day trips. I seem to enjoy my Porsche more with other people in my club that also have the same interests. I know I would miss those times with a SUV or sedan in the garage.

I drive mine year round and truly enjoy it. Can't imagine leaving it behind in favor of something more sedate.

I kept my first Porsche in mint condition and barely drove it.

All I accomplished was giving the next owner big value for the money.

If you don't need to sell it - keep it.

Your car is really nice, has the best of what the 997 had to offer and will be hard to replace!

Use those back seats for the kids if you can get the right car seats (although the cab seats are smaller and more upright)

I've got 3 vehicles and it's a handful but my collection would be incomplete without a 911. I've got a 4th vehicle on the way (Shelby GT350), wife wants me to keep all of them (cool wife) but I see it as excessive so i'm selling the Boss302 next month. The care I put into my cars means 3 is the maximum I have time for, anything more would almost become a full time job.

The only time I ever thought about selling my 997 was for a brief period when I thought the 997.2 GTS/Turbos were the car for me and I should trade up. I test drove the entire lineup right up to 997.2 PDK Turbo. After the test drives I realized the first gen 6speed 997S is my favorite 911 - keeping it.

That's what my seller did. He kept it garaged and pristine with 10,038 miles. Then sold it to me for half price. One of the nicest people I ever met.

I've got her up over 75,000 miles now, still drives like a champ.

Keep it.

Depending on the ages of your kids (7 or under), deinstall the factory seat hardware and put a simple booster seat with back and headrest in its place. One of the best fitting and highest safety rated is the Harmony one at Wal-Mart for under $40. It comes in black with either silver or pink trim. The bottom of the base is narrow and fits in quite well.

Cool. I regret now not getting my 997 while my kids were much smaller - nothing cooler than a guy driving a 911 with kids in the back IMO. Mine were 11 and 13 and I jammed my 11 year old in the back often while he fit (only a year or so). One time the 3 of us crawled out of it at a shopping mall and a guy in a minivan nearly crapped when he realized I was transporting as many people as he was in his land yacht. Anyways it is a 2-seater for us now which is just fine most of the time

Oh yeah - YES you are crazy if you sell. Mine is a keeper. I am the 2nd and last owner of this gem.

Keep it!

I plan to keep my first forever. This year I've probably only put 600km on it so far, nothing to be proud of. It's a late spring-fall fun time car not DD, and haven't had much time to have fun. But I love that it's there when I'm able to take it out.

Sell it. That's a good chunk of change getting left in the garage. IMHO
