That is one beautiful 911....and normally I'm not the biggest fan of Targa or British Racing Green....this car might just have changed my mind on both!

Hmmm...can you see those wide hips from your rear view mirror?!

Man if that is the case I should have gotten a Targa cause I can't see anything with that mirror...except things getting smaller quickly.

Welcome....I bought my car last year and found Redline Automotive in Orange. Ask for James, he is the owner. Used to work for Porsche. He not only did my prepurchase inspection but since had retro fit bearing and other services. Great work, trustworthy, honest guys and reasonable prices.

I am in Mission Viejo and the other shops you mentioned do have great reputations but Redline was specifically referred to me by a friend that had gone there and I couldnt be happier.

I just purchased a 2009 Targa 4S this weekend. PDK and sports chrono. Color is Racing Green (22G).

I really love the look of the sliding glass targa, and have wanted one for a while, but not all that easy to find, especially if you don't want a black car.

I was originally looking at 2007-2008 model years, but this 2009 showed up locally. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but from reading here, it sounds like the general advice was to go with a 997.2 if you can do it.

This will be my daily driver. Originally was going to store it in the driveway (due to lack of garage space), but when my wife saw it, she thought it had to go in the garage. So, we moved some stuff around, and it is being stored in the garage at night, next to my 1975 308GT4 (hence, my user name).

I'd like to find a nice independent in Orange County to get it serviced. I've searched the site a bit, and it seems that 2 that are often mentioned at GMG and Hergensheimer. Any others I should consider?

Not much else to say at this point. I can't believe I bought a Porsche (this is my first Porsche), and I am loving it so far. I hope the stories I hear about these cars being bulletproof are true. Now, I can drive in to work every day with a smile on my face.

Got an email from Rennlist, indicating that my 2 years subscription is expiring. That means it's been 2 years since buying my Targa!

Such an amazing car. Still my daily driver (Now has ~28,000 miles on it, had ~13,000 when I bought it). Still loving it. Puts a smile on my face every day. Most days, coming home from work, I open the Targa top and windows, and bask in the California sunshine.

Since buying the car, I've done the following upgrades/services: Clear side marker lights, Black stone guards, Paddle shift steering wheel upgrade, new Rear tires (am pretty close to needing to replace all 4- probably another month or so), PDK service (ouch that was expensive), 4 oil/filter changes, replaced the front pads (Hawk ceramics) and rotors, and rear pads (also Hawks). I've averaged 17.64 MPG- not bad for an almost 400HP sports car...

Looking forward to more time with the car, and more time on Rennlist (Just resubscribed for another 2 years).

Racing Green is such a beautiful color. My dream would be a Racing Green Targa GTS with Cocoa interior.

I’ve used Haydon Bros since 1980. They are now located on La Palma in Anaheim. Just by looking at the floor tells you a lot.

Congrats and welcome to the club. I'm in Orange County and I have an '08 C4S, manual. These are also not to hard to work on and I personally enjoy it. I just replaced the clutch, transmission mount, a front driveshaft, lower control arms, springs, etc. But I also work on cars on the side, so maybe that's why ;-).

Thanks guys. FYI, this thread is almost 3 years old now. Yes, I’ve done some maintenance myself (oil changes, brake pads and rotors, etc), and I love the car. It’s been my daily driver the whole time, now have about 36000 miles on it.
