Default Sharkwerks Bypass - Fister Mufflers 997.2

I've been reading up about a variety of combinations with the Sharkwerks bypass and would like to know whether those with the bypass and fister mufflers are happy with the combo on their 997.2. I have Fister mufflers on my 997.2 and I'm thinking about buying the sharkwerks bypass. The guy who bought my 2001 996 Carrera drove past my house the other day and I was floored with how good it sounded. It was stock except with fister mufflers. I recognize the 996 lacks a center muffler and the car sounded perfect in my opinion. Very throaty but not loud. Almost reminded me of the motor sound package that was available on 993s.

Does anyone here with a sharkwerks bypass and fister mufflers have any regrets? What do you think?

Thanks!

This is what I'm about to do... I think it will be aggressive and actually sound like a sports car... matching the rest of the car's characteristics.

I added the Sharkwerks center pipes a week after I got the car. 6 weeks later I had my then local dealer do a full install (including wiring) of PSE. I love the sound. I have PSE in LOUD mode 99.5% of the time.

The Sharkwerks pipes will "wake up" your Fister mod side mufflers. Right now your Fister mufflers are pre-muffled.

I have this setup, but with AWE crossover pipes and a set of Gundo Hacked mufflers...all the same but different, I guess. I love this setup; the growl on acceleration is just right and there is no interior drone. Plus, the price is much less than a full blown aftermarket setup. I get lots of compliments on the sound. DO IT!!!

I have that. Fister and sharkwerks on a base 997.2.

I like it. It's not quiet by any stretch of the imagination. Not too loud when driving. It's a deep growl. Not raspy.

Everyone that's heard it has liked it.

I have the sharkwerks bypass and did the gundo hack myself. This is on my 997.2 C4S. If I ever end up with another 997.2 again...I'll be doing this mod. Been on the car for 2 years. Love it.

I installed bypass pipes on my 997.1 last weekend.

Holy hell. I must be getting old, because it was too loud. Way too loud.

The kids at the movie theater (Furious 7 had come out and a group of friends and I went to see it) thought it sounded great, but without an x-pipe, it sounded horrible.

I will be doing a double PSE/Gundo hack on the stock mufflers this weekend, that should get me to where I'd like to be.

I had thought about opening up the stock mufflers to reconfigure the baffles and sound chamber to fine tune the sound, but that's too much work for me right now ...

Did you actually do bypass on the side mufflers? I think that would be extremely loud on a 997.1...

That's very different than the combos discussed above.

Yes, I know the 997.2s have a different exhaust layout.

And yes, a bypass on the side mufflers. I swear, it sounded quieter in all those Fabspeed demo videos!

Then again, the PO had redone his exhaust with slightly larger 2.25" OD piping from the headers-back. That may contribute to the louder exhaust, but I should have known better.

Sounds like a "next step up" from what I'm contemplating. Mine is 1.75inch pipes for the Fister and then the x pipes from SW.

I'm hoping and expecting for that sweet spot (for me) of loud but not entirely obnoxious. Key word is "entirely"

But hey, those bypass pipes did result in a horsepower and torque increase on the butt dyno.

I was in a dead heat with a new 5.0 Mustang with an exhaust up to about 140 ...

I have a 997.2S with Sharkwerks bypass pipes and Fister mufflers. When I first got the car I couldn't even tell it was on, but with the SW and Fister combo it sounds great. Not too loud, no drone, quiet-ish at low throttle, etc. Highly recommended.

Looked at the sharkwerks site for this. Is the bypass not available for the 997.1 due to a different exhaust config?

OP... I have PSE and just installed the Sharkwerks bypass. PSE ON might be similar to the Fister/Gundo sound.

Use this video to compare. This is straight from the bumper instead of a fly-by which I hand't seen yet and wanted to hear the difference. Hope you like Kavinsky...
