Default Who tries to race you?

Curious how others' experience has been but who tends to try and race you when you're driving your Porsche? Not saying we take the bait, but what are the typical car makes that you encounter that pull alongside and rev, or seem to pick up their speed 20mph as you're pass them?

For me, my top 5 list:
1. Infiniti G35/37 -- far and away the worst culprit, it feels like every single time I am near one of these (usually with blacked out tinted windows and smoked tail lights) they gun it or try to egg me on
2. Subaru WRX Sti / Mitsu Evos -- enough said
3. Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S -- okay, I get these pulling up alongside and giving the thumbs up and then toying for a race... these are actually pretty slow cars but I know lots of enthusiasts drive them, so perhaps the least annoying
4. Corvettes -- C6 vettes of every and any type...
5. Moms (sometimes dads) in Honda Odysseys [insert other minivan / SUV here] -- Scares me $hitless seeing how some of these people go 80mph+ in 55 zones, with kids in the back... they are driving at 9/10ths or 10/10ths of those "cars" capabilities. It always seems like they're trying to race me... or maybe that's how they always drive???

PS: I'm excluding civics and golfs because they're so common... but I'd say about 7 times out of 10 when I see someone weaving carelessly through traffic, it's in one of these two. They never pull alongside to race however

Vettes and Mustangs! But, frankly, in my 10 years of Porsche ownership, only about twice a year. During my 15 years of 3d gen RX-7 ownership, constantly. Maybe it's because the older I get, the less they expect any response.

I don't get many people challenging me to a race in my Porsche either. When I owned my highly modified Cooper JCW it happened constantly.

When I am challenged though, so far it's been 370Zs, Mustangs, Audis and GTIs. Occasionally a rice rocket will want to play but I just ignore them.

Any dam Prius that won't move out of the fast lane.

I give cars about 10 seconds to move before I just drive around. That is usually when they start realizing the cars actually have gas pedals.

Kids with Mustangs are the worst. They have no idea how fast a 911 is.

1. pickup trucks
2. the tuner crowd - lowered Civic's, Jetta's, Golf's, Mitsubishi's, Subaru's
3. Mustang's, Camaro's, Corvette's

I try to avoid all these chimps...

For me, it's guys in pick-up trucks, and teenaged boys in their parents' sedans. Mostly guys in pick-ups though.

However, I was in my C55 this morning, and a guy in an old, ~2000ish Volvo V70 AWD wanted to run. I didn't bite, I refused to waste the gas on such pointlessness.

I don't see this type of behavior very often. I think it has happened only once or maybe twice in the last year. It happened to me a little bit more often in my 996 C4S, but not much more. Maybe my brown turbo cabriolet doesn't provoke people as much as my 996 did. The 996 was much louder.

When I do see this silly behavior, it tends to be the modified Subaru crowd or other tuned Japanese vehicle with a "fart can" muffler.

The other day I was driving my Carrera to a car show in Sandford's airport with a friend and an idiot riding a Japanese bike wanted to play. My friend (Lambo owner) said "Go!"
"Nahh... its pointless and ridiculous. Biker should go home and get his car (probably a honda civic) and then we could play" I said. Sincerely, I wouldn't do it anyway.

Every time I've driven the car so far. Since I bought it I'd say I've been out about 20 times. One time on a two mile drive from my condo to Home Depot I had an S55 AMG, a Gen 2 RX7 and a 2015 Mustang GT try to race. On the way home, I had a Galant and C7 Vette try to race. Living in downtown Chicago, I find it is mostly either tourists who drove in from out of state or the burb kids who come into town for some excitement. Racing on the streets isn't my thing. Firstly, it's dangerous. Secondly, Porsches aren't drag monsters.

In the B group lots of cars on the track. A couple of times I got suckered into allowing a car I was following "drive my car" - no bad ending and I won't let that happen again.

On the road I wouldn't know as I'm just trying to pay attention to what is going on around me and not who wants to "race".

In no particular order....

1. Pickup Trucks, especially with loud exhaust and/or big tires.
2. 5.0 Mustangs, especially with loud exhaust and/or wide tires.
3. C5 & C6 Corvettes (now affordable to a younger crowd). Not so much with the new C7 Vettes. Maybe a more mature buyer?
4. Any Honda with an oversize loud muffler hanging off the rear end.
5. Ford Crown Vics and Chevy Impalas with 22" wheels.
6. Soccer Moms with a van-load of mis-behaving kids (probably not racing; they just want to get the hell home and unload the madness!)
7. Any Jap bike with a rider younger than 20 years old.

That's how they drive. Those who do not go 80 always start at a stop light like jack rabbits and tail-gate everyone else.

Always beat up lifted Ford F-150's usually with either a Browning Hunting Deer symbol or a "Metal Mullisha" German helmet with skull sticker - if it has an Alberta license plate he'll even be a bigger douche bag!!
