Default New Walmart battery

Bought a new battery for my 997.1 C2S today from Walmart (H7, $138 in Toronto) based on advice on this forum.

I understood the vent tube that connects to the OE battery (see connection below) would attach to the new battery.

OE battery

However the Walmart battery has a hole (female) instead of a tube sticking out of the top of the battery (male) as in the OE battery:

Walmart H7

The instructions with the new battery simply state: "connect vent tube into closest vent hole on battery end"

I have not tried to install yet, but I do not see how the vent tube will connect to the different hole on the Walmart battery. I am about to wake up my car after winter hibernation. Anyone with experience with this type of battery?

Walmart should have given you a vent kit to make the connection into the battery. Then your tube will connect to that.

You also need to seal with a cap the unused vent.

The Walmart battery I got for my 2008 had an adapter that was part of the cover for one of the terminals. I just snapped it off and plugged it into hole.

The plug is part of the red positive terminal cover - just be careful when you remove it that you don't lose it. The OEM vent hose already has an "L" shaped connector and that just gets pushed into the battery vent hole on the negative side of the battery.

I did the same thing. But I used my old vent tube and stuck it in my new Walmart battery. All good for me.

It should just stick in the female end.

I also just changed out my old Porsche battery to a Costco Kirkland. The Kirkland batteries have the manufacturer date on them. They rank highly in the consumer reports

All batteries have manufacturer's date - some are just difficult to find - usually just the month.

Theorem battery should have a 90 degree nipple that you vent hose connected to. You can remove this from the ken battery and re-use on Walmart battery. Same goes with the plug on the other side of the battery to plug the other vent

Just confirming above in this thread. The clear plastic OEM vent tube that snakes into the battery compartment from below has a 90 degree black plastic elbow on the end of it. This elbow fits into the OEM battery vent hole (like reaming out a pe**s) or straight into the female connection on the Walmart battery.
Also the Walmart battery comes with a detachable plug on the disposable cover for the positive terminal that can plug the vent on the other side.
The Walmart battery isn't as elegant as the OE battery, but it fits.

Default Just put in a Walmart Battery

Hi: just did this today. The male part is from the vent hose on the positive (or left side as you're facing the car) and it fits in the female end of the Everlast battery. It worked for me and consistent with these threads, the few error messages on the dash cleared after driving it a few metres and all I had to do was re-set the clock. Hope this helps.

As was mentioned above make sure that you cap off the unused vent for health and safety reasons.

Just bought the WM H7 here in Ottawa last week. There was a small baggie glued to the side of the battery with a 90 degree vent tube and a plug for the opposite side.
