I purchased a V-1 a month ago and the default shipping configuration now is with Logic mode plus Traffic Monitor / Junk-K Fighter filter enabled. I recently completed 1,000+ mile road trip and the Valentine performed incredibly well, with very acceptable level of false alarms.

Thanks for the post. My serial falls into the range that has the feature but not enabled from the factory. I'll be turning it on tomorrow!

Why people still buy V-1? Escort Passport is now way surpassed it, in almost all areas! V1 used to be the best like 10yrs ago, but now with App companion of Escort, alerting you of speed traps based on GPS, it's way superior to a still basic V-1... or am I missing something?

PS. I've owned both. V1 was too freaking loud, and was basically useless.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I do not agree with it. I grew up in Delaware County (outside of Philly) and have lived in northern New Jersey for a number of years. There are good people in this state (as well as bad), but to categorize the whole group in the northern part of the state as dishonest and aggressive is subjective (IMO). Let's make a point of meeting up at next year's Porsche Swap Meet in Hershey, Pa and let me see what I can do to possibly change your opinion about some of us that live in northern New Jersey.

Better yet, sell it and let it become a problem for the next owner. I've been V1 free for about 5 years now.

Welp - After driving around for 2 days with this filter enabled and in logic mode, small "L", the detector has been perfect. I'm really impressed. Driving down the 405 daily used to produce a dozen or more false alarms and thats now down to 0. I've had 3 real hits in 2 days and possibly one false alarm.

To the guys above - people use a V1 over an escort because they prefer it. Plain and simple. I have both and highly prefer my V1 as I find it hits at greater distances and gives me more peace of mind. It's a personal preference just like car detailing products. We can debate endlessly on the merits of each and all parties will still leave with their chosen brand being the favorite.

In part preference and in part technical background. Those who have technical training and have been exposed to precise measuring instruments prefer the V1. Front and rear signal detection is also a major differentiator.

I do know I was just keeping my response conservative so it wouldn't end up in a debate, hehe. Detectors are one of those things exactly like detailing products - sometimes you can show on paper why a product is better through actual measurement and trials but people generally gravitate towards what the know, or believe they know, and the endless debates ensue.

The best upgrade for the V1 is to turn off X and K band alerts ... no more false threats in California

How do u test laser? Mine never goes off even when a cop is aiming at me.

Waze is a free app that is more effective than v1 or escort. You just need to plug in power as gps has to be on.
