Shot of car pre-shoveling.
I still drove to work

Garage contents: $500 of ... sports equipment, shovels, kids sleds, hockey bags, empty beer bottles, lawn mower, rakes, ladders, hockey net ..
Driveway contents: $100,000 Porsche 911.

That took a little digging!

I guess I should have taken a pic of mine before I put it through the car wash this afternoon. I live on a dirt road...we got 4 inches of snow on Friday. The 4s was amazing in the snow...I guess I'm glad I got a macadamia car...it matches the dirt!

My Canadian rule. Car in garage. Crap in the shed.
O/P- I'm sure it took you longer to dig out your ride, than your snowy commute. If you picked the right route, roads were traffic free.

I live in the Pacific NW. This would be my first winter with my 997.1 Targa 4S. I got a set of winter tires and wheels in preparation. I have to say I was looking forward to some snow--none yet. It doesn't look like this will be the year.

Awesome. I love how these cars can fit into many situations/climates. Especially love how Porsche tests their 911s in extreme conditions from South Africa to the arctic circle: Testing the 2012 Porsche Carrera 911 --
What kind of winter tires do you have installed?
I'd be hanging the bikes, hockey net, lawnmowers, etc.
Thanks for sharing.

OMG, I will swap residences with you in a heartbeat! I don't drive my nice cars in the winter because there's no point in it to me. The car is perpetually dirty from the crap kicked up by other cars and sand/gravel for traction spread by the city - all just bleah.

Yeah, the car gets dirty. Yeah, now and then you have to remove the ice so you can turn. Yeah, you have to watch out for other drivers. And yeah, I've opted to not live in it anymore.
My father taught me that you need to play in all seasons. The dirt bike never had a week off. The snowmobile got taken out in the grass and mud. The seasons mixed together as best as we could mix them.
And I can still miss the drive.
Nostalgia has value!
Come visit when you feel the need.

Oh, I spotted the difference in your post about living and driving in snow. The problem for me is that most of my winter driving is urban areas because that's where I live. And it can be brutally hard on cars. Yeah, it's fun at times but the daily grind for the commute can be a huge pain. First snowfall of the year is horrible. I applaud people who drive their Porsches in the snow, but I just won't do it. I'm sure it'd be fun, but I would hate seeing it covered in crap all the time. And whilst I trust myself in winter drive, it's the other people out there who don't bother with winter tires that worry me!
