I have the Bendpak lift. Works great. Clearance is an issue but easily resolved using some 2 x12 x 16. I have them as ramps running along the lift. Two stacked on top of each other 4 total boards. Tried to add a picture, but something isn't working right with the forum page.

I just bought BL5000 for my 997 but the hoist point on the car is 6 inches away where the BL5000 rear lift point is so I am a bit lost as what to do, can you send me pictures of your setup please.

Bummer..... There was someone a while back selling a rail that connected both jack points thus allowing you to place a floor jack in the center of the car (along the rocker panel). I can't seem to find it using Google. This would tilt the entire car over getting to both tires with one jack. Maybe you can lay this item down over the BL5000 after removing the rubber blocks?

Or, remove the rubber blocks, center the BL5000 thus making just a 3" overhang on each end, and lay a wood beam?

Honestly, I think you should sell it, return it, and just get a better unit more suited for you car.

Peace

returning it would not be sensible since I have to pay for shipping and do not have the boxes, I guess I can sell locally since its a month old, what a shame I was excited to get this working. oh well thanks for your help anyways.

Love ingenuity, especially when it is simple. Well done! That may be my next garage purchase.

better you than me... no way would i do that. center of gravity looks off. maybe to change a tire but i wouldn't get underneath that to try to change plugs without getting a jack stand. i would probably get someone to also weld side plates and figure a way to attach it back to the main plate.

+1 for Bendpak. It can also be installed on the floor with small ramps.Name: Onlift_zpse938644a.jpg

All good points. It wouldn't take much to weld extensions and gussets to the bottom to extend beyond the jacking points. With that done you have the end to end stability of four jack stands. Then it's just a matter of how secure the pivot points are. For anyone with tight garages and minimal storage space ...

Richard181 you are absolutely correct, point well made, I was concerned about center of gravity as well. I like your setup and I thought about doing built in but don't know i will be staying at my residence for a long time and that would be a waste of investment.

I am sure if I speak to BendPack they will not provide any input since I have changed the design of the lift.

I even thought to reverse the lift and put the weld plate in the front where front of the car is lighter than the back but I still don't think that would help center of gravity and the lifts stability since it was not designed to be that long.

I will probably look into suggestion that Wayne made I will check with my welder. I guess for total safety if I want to get under the car while lifted I could put jack stands under the axles as a precaution till a more solid solution.

thanks for the inputs Gents

Bendpak all the way
I have friends that have the mid-rise, 4 post and 2 post lifts from Bendpak and they have been very happy with them. My friend Chris has 2 4post lifts and a mid-rise and has never had an issue with any of them.

Check out garage journal they have pages of post on the Bendpak lifts.

Also when I was at the Porsche Driving School at Birmingham Al. they were using a Bendpak midrise lift. When I get home I will try to find the pics of it
