Default Question about information display on dashboard

I noticed in some pics that the info panel (the digital readout below the tach) displays radio station information. The display in my 997 Targa with PCM 2.1 does not ever show audio info though. Is there something wrong with mine or is it a setting which needs to be changed to get the display to show the audio info?

On the PCM press the INFO key and then the OPTIONS key. Go to Display (I think). There is a list of display options for what to show. Audio is included. I was hoping to find a way to select Sport and Sport Plus, but no luck.

There are setting that you can change for the center display using the control stalk.

It's buried in a sub menu. The owners manual tells you how to make it display radio info, Mne was also off for some reason when I bought the car.

Tried the control stalk and there were options for a number of things but not the radio. Any other ideas? Is it a setting on the PCM itself?

You need to start at the PCM to define the options that will appear via the stalk. The display options list is buried in sub menus. Not an ideal way to design a GUI, but it does eliminate a bunch of buttons. Take a few minutes to explore and you may find a bunch of amusing stuff! And then there is always the Owner's Manual ...

Sorry, the acronyms get ridiculous. GUI stands for Graphical User Interface.

Trust me, its in there…..buried in a sub-menu….and if you don't do the exact sequence it tells you to do….you won't get it. Only other vehicle that was so odd as this was setting the resetting service light on my KTM bikes…..The stalk goes up and down, and pulls towards you to set things after you used the up and down menu scroll.

Sorry about droning on ... different cars may have different interfaces. My stalk only shows options that are enabled from the PCM. For me, I have to start there.

Once you enable the desired menus, such as audio, then you can push or pull the stalk to select the enabled menus. Once a menu type is selected then you can move the stalk radially to move through the items attached to that menu.

You may have the menu options available on the stalk ... My software version appears to be quite old. As someone mentioned, check the Manual.

But, for me at least, it all starts at the enable selection screen at the PCM. If I deselect audio at the PCM, I can't get audio on the stalk.

Just updating. Searched the manual and didn't find out how to enable the function that displays radio information on the main info display. The manual simply states this is the default and I couldn't locate how to enable this feature on the PCM either.

IIRC, some of the functions are only programmable when you have the Sports Chrono option...but I'm not sure if that is true for the audio display.

I'm in DC, not far from you. I'll look in my manual, for an 07 C4S, and tell you what pages I used to set it. I have Sports Chrono Plus, if that perhaps makes a difference as some suggest. I'll look when I get home this evening.

Now I'm curious what else I can display. I had no idea this was configurable. Thanks!

On the 997.2, the process for configuring the dispaly is in the section of the manual for the on board computer (OBC). On these cars, you use the control stalk to select SET, then DISPLAY. You can then select what is diplayed on the central line of the OBC. Choices are Audio Info, Range on Remaining Fuel, or Empty.

That's exactly what I did to set mine. My 996 C4S was the same way, although audio information wasn't an option on that car.

Page 111 and 140 of my manual shows you how to get to those screens to get the radio station ID or name on the center line of the display below the tach, sort of. I have a 2007 C4S with Bose and Navigation, sports chromo plus. It will not give you song titles though.
