Default My Tribute to the '73 RS

Since the real '73 RS is so hard to come by and since it is one of my favourite and the prettiest Porsche around, I decided to pay a tribute to that very wonderful car with my interpretation of the RS but in a 997 MKII body.

The key elements to this build were the:
1) Duck Tail
2) Vented Bonnet
3) "Fuchs" style alloys
4) Aftermarket Engine Sound
5) Graphics
7) Suspension

In my mind, what makes a Porsche a Porsche besides being Rear Engined Rear Wheel Drive, Manual Transmission, and the Upright Headlights is the Vented Bonnet. I believe this particular design element just gives the car that extra bit no one has these days. And with the smooth bonnet modern Porsches have now, viewed from the front, just doesn't ring Porsche.

It took a while for me to get everything together, and I'm still waiting on one more part, but this is my creation thus far. This is not what one would call spectacular, given the way cars are designed and kitted out with wings and fins and everything else, but this is what I would call a modern classic beauty. All the right elements came together at the same time to allow me the possibility to build this tribute.

I hope you will enjoy viewing the pix as much as I have. Thanks very much!

Wow! I'm not one for modified cars. But this one is truly spectacular. You are too modest. Be careful, Porsche is likely to steal your idea and market a version of the new 991 like this and sell it for $150K.

Every time I discount buying a duck tail I see a picture like this and it makes me reconsider! Gorgeous car, very sharp and clean.

Beautiful car! Can't help but think how much nicer the front view would be without the plate...

I was reading the description and thinking "this is going to be hideous." However, I think it looks fantastic. Well done!
