Why no CPO?? Could be red flag.

I do check KBB and NADA, the numbers are different. I am not sure they really reflect the true market values of 911, since a 911 is not a mainstream vehicle like Toyota or Honda.

Anyway, KBB shows $60k for private sales and $64k for dealers of both the 2009 and 2011 in Good condition. To me, the number is kinda high for the 09 and kinda low for the 11.

Therefore, I thought I can get some good opinions from some Porsche enthusiasts in this forum.

There is not really a lot of changes between a '09 and a '11 997. I'll tell you this. I own a Launch edition C4S and it's a highly desirable cars because they all come loaded and have the highly sawed after sport bucket seats. Between the 2, I'd go with the lower mileage car which should also be priced lower since it's 2 MY older. Mid $60k seems about right, low $60k should be a good deal.

I agree with this assessment - if you could get it for 63k that would be good - but there is some reason this is not a CPO car unless it's not a Porsche dealer? That's the trouble with small dealers - no warranty!

The Porsche dealer wants $67k for the 2011, additional $4,500 to get it CPO'd. The 09 at a reputable non-Porsche dealer is asking for $62k, maybe able to talk it down to $60k. Sounded like I should consider the 09 over the 11.

This is just me, I would not buy a Porsche from a none-porsche dealer. I would only buy a CPO from a Dealer or from a fanatic like those on this forum. When my CPO comes up in 2016 it will be time to upgrade.

Good luck regardless, out of those 2 I would get the 2011, although there were not many changes it is 2 years newer and close in Price. Plus you can get the CPO, negotiate the CPO into the price and you're all set.

The dealer said $117k

After reading your post that you scored a CPO 2011 CS and only 12,500 miles for $66k, the 2011 at the Porsche dealer I found seems way too high. They are pretty firm on $67k+$4,500 to CPO.

I'd go for the 2009 launch car. Especially if you can get it for $60K. It has half the mileage which trumps year and is very well optioned. Close to half the cars I looked at did not deserve CPO distinction. They were certified simply to increase the selling price. The 2 years of warranty is nice but not at the expense of clear signs of abuse. With $4500 you can get a MUCH better and longer aftermarket warranty for peace of mind.

Looking at Porsche USA there are only 5 Carrera S cars 2010 and up under $70K. I get these are asking prices, but good cars well equipped do not last, most dealers will not deal that much unless it is Green or has some funky color combination and/or options.

The search is part of the fun!!! Look at the Rennlist Classifieds, there are a few really nice cars for sale.

The 11' you are looking at is loaded though, especially compared to mine.My original sticker was 20k less so if you can get that for anything less than that $71,500 total that feels like a score to me.If it was me I would ask them to go $70k even including CPO and be stoked.
Edit.I just noticed you said they were 'pretty firm' if they wont budge I still think with the 11' you would be getting a deal arguably as good as or better than mine.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Would anyone here really have much more peace of mind with any aftermarket warranty other than CPO?
I certainly wouldn't...maybe I'm mistaken though.with that 11 you could get possibly near 4 years I think depending upon the initial sale date.
