Default Ski carrier for Targa or Cab

Does anyone know of a ski carrier for a Targa or Cab? Any system that mounts to the hood or the underside rear?

I know I'm thinking ahead of time but need to figure out the ski trips in 6 months ;-)

I got a 997.2 Targa 4 and I don't think I can put a roof rack on it.

You can try this: http://www.willwoodsystem.com/

I remember these when I was a kid. Don't think there is anything for a 997 Cab, but could be wrong.

There really is no ski rack solution for the cabs. In fact, there are little options so thanks to a changing ski technology, you should be able to get your skis inside the car with you, unless you're one of those GS guys who is still riding on 203s or 215s.

This Targa 4 is my first Porsche too. Got it a year ago. Very happy with it. Specifically talking about Targa, the design is great. I love the amount of light it lets into the cabin when you roll back the shades. When you do open the top, feels close enough to a convertible for me. Best function of all is the hatchback I think. Makes the 911 a much more usable car. Either shopping or golf, loading stuff is easy.

Too bad Porsche doesn't integrate the hatchback functionality into their new 911s.

Post some pictures when you get it. Cheers.

I sent emails to Willwood System and Bird Automotive. They both produce a rear system mounted to the frame. I ski on 177s

I went in looking for a Cab and after test driving a C2S Cab I saw the Targa 4S on the dealer's lot. I took it out for a test drive (Sport Chrono Package Plus, Wheel Spacers, Stainless Steel pipes, Bose High End Sound System and Adaptive Sport Seats) and that was it. I had to get it

I also really like the hatch back and the wider body. Can't wait for Thursday!

BTW I'm about an hour from NYC in CT

Heard back from Bird: He does not make a rack for the 911. Their racks provide a pair of receiver pipes below the rear of the car and these pipes would thus go under the 911 engine (not good). They make racks for The Boxster/Cayman with mid-engines.

I think Tequipment has racks for the coupes but I know they do not have them for the targa. Something to do with the roof shape I think which is based on the cab.

And congrats on the purchase. I bought my first 911 this year and it was an 07 targa 4s. Absolutely love it. Although I have to say I don't use the hatch as much as I would have thought but love the open air feel without actually having to have the roof back if I don't want. And as common as 911s are you still get questions about it because there are not many in general.

Thanks! Those look like a very good option. I'll try to figure out if I can use my Rhino ski racks with four of their mounts or just buy their complete ski/snowboard kit.

I received my sea-suckers today. These things are awesome!

I ordered the surfboard carrier system to get the two cross bars. I already had my Rhino ski carriers so I mounted those to the cross bars:

Yes indeed. But no way I could drive with the wind noise and flying nun effect those skis will create better to move the cups forward so the front pair catch the top of the windshield and the back pair on the roof. Oh you might also want to flip your skis over

On my previous setup I carrie them up side down. This was just a setup trial.

I'll try the top mount and windshield mount. That's the nice thing about these things: you can move them around for different setups.
