Default Door latch mechanism triple square bolt size?

On a 997.1 (2006), what size are the two triple square bolts holding the driver's door latch mechanism to the door shell? I found a description here that claims they are 8mm triple square, but when I tried to use my Snap-On 8mm [FTSM8E] the bit was obviously too large. I'm thinking the bolts might be 6mm triple square? Would like to confirm, thanks.

8mm - I confirmed by testing the fit of 6mm & 8mm on my car just now

Sorry, I misunderstood which bolt you were referring to. The bolts holding on the door striker plate are 8mm. The ones in your photo (on the door itself) are 6mm on my car.

Torx T40 6-pt fits the 8mm triple square and a Torx T30 fitx the 6mm triple square too, just not perfectly. It can be used in a pinch if needed.

Default Tool for Door Lock Mechanism

I didn't know any of this before I took the door apart - and then I was hopping mad!

BUT! I discovered a 6mm Allen wrench fits perfectly - which makes sense - that's 1/2 a 12 point wrench.

Just be damn careful. I almost stripped one by taking this approach. If they're really tight you probably need the true triple square.

Having done this, under no circumstances should you use anything other than a 6M Triple Square bit for this job. It's not worth the gamble.
