Default Debris in Oil Filter Question.

I can get a pick, but this is more of a question.

First, I changed my oil(Motul 8100xcess 5w-40) over the weekend and it had about 3000 miles on it. I checked the filter and found some debris. Some seemed to stick to a magnet and others didn't. I found more than I was thinking I'd find, but not enough to make me stop driving the car. The car has 48000 miles on it now.

This is the first time I have opened up a filter on my car. I did on my so merc, but that filter was filled with so much dirt, I wasn't going to find jack in that. It for sure went too long, so I'm not going to let her do that again.

I am sending off a sample to Black-stone labs, but it makes me wonder if most of you find debris in your oil filter?

Looks like your oil filter is doing it's job.

2007 non-S.

I'm pretty sure that's considered a M96 whereas the M97 is the S version in the .1's.

After using Motul for 3400 miles, I hardly noticed any debris on the filter, except 2 to 3 very tiny silver looking pieces (smaller than small ants). I sent the oil to Blackstone and came back with very good results.
