Default Key fob distance (horrible)

Still new to the 997 (3 months now). What is up with the remote distance? I literally have to be within 10-15 feet to unlock the car. Is this normal or is my key fob battery failing? Was interested in the smartTOP system, but if I have to be within 10 feet of the car to put the top down it doesn't make much sense..

The one touch up/down feature of the SmartTop justifies the product, regardless of remote range.

Mine sucks and it always has. Even with new batteries
More frustrating is the frunk where you have to hold the button down for a bit before it pops open

It's funny you say that because a while back there was a lot of chatter about what a PITA it was that the Frunk button was too easily activated.

Insofar as the range of the Fob, mine works 40+ feet away, through glass and through the garage door. It works even further away if, seriously, using my body as an antenna I put the blade of the key to my chin and raise my hand while pressing the button - so far away actually that sometimes, if I'm ambling, the car re-locks before I get to it.

This will solve your problem: http://www.9news.com/story/news/loca...rain/10251339/

Just using your body.

No one wants to complain about the fact that the lock and unlock button are the same, and that from a distance you can't tell if the car is locked or unlocked?! #FAIL

If you're unsure whether or not the car is locked, just press the button one more time and walk away. If it was unlocked, it will become locked. If it was locked, it will only become unlocked for a few moments before locking itself again due to inaction. Problem solved.

my remote works good distance away- i've changed settings with durametric pro so that windows open/close with key remote lock/unlock when button is held down- know it's locked/unlocked.

With my 997.2 and my prior 997.1 I could hit the locks from at least 60 feet every time.

Unless you open a door after it's unlocked, it will relock every time (unless maybe your battery is dead, but then it probably wouldn't have unlocked in the first place).

I kept testing the unlock yesterday as I approached the car from a distance. Once it unlocked I counted paces, the car unlocked from 32 paces away (around 90 feet). Try changing the battery.

Yeah it's hit & miss and remote battery age plays part in it too.
Environment can also play a part in interference.
But the question I always asked myself was, why do I need to unlock it 60 ft away before I even get there?

Even though it relocks on its own this is still my complaint, it should lock and unlock separate.
