Volcano Grey touch paint... I found it...

the ppg dealer i bought it from keeps the code in their computer. they pour it into a pint can for me and then i put it into the finger nail bottles. when they were making it, it took a couple of attempts and she ended up customizing what the camera output had calculated she said.
sold one bottle last week. down to the last few if anyone needs it.

Was possibly interested but how come the price is now $75? You said it was $400 a gallon and they are 1 oz. nail polish bottles. So a gallon is 128 ounces which comes to $3.13 an ounce. USPS flat rate small box is $6.80, so under $10 plus the cost of the bottle which I assume can't be more than $2. I can understand making a couple bucks on it and thought at $35, although a bit high but in line with other car touch up paints and a few bucks profit was OK, but why now $75? So by my calculations if you bought a gallon and sold all 128 bottles you'd be profiting a bit over $8,000. Am I missing something here?

While you spend a couple of hours at the ppg dealer every time they attempt to match the color they have to mix a pint which cost $100. On my car it took 3 tries. So you can spend the $~200-300 and do it yourself or pay $75 for the ease and convenience.

honestly it is pretty simple. For $75 an oz. the convenience of it not having to take your car to a paint place and spend two hours of your life at the store while they try to match the paint of the back seat that no one said could be done because of the texture and color. I had to go two three different stores because a pint wasn't worth any of their time to go out and mix and match just one pint.

I guess that makes sense although since it was your 3rd or so time there I would imagine now you just go to the same place as originally and just ask for the same thing. So you were happy with the $35, have done nothing more but get a refill and now $75. That's all I'm asking , why you are now asking more than double.
IMHO no one else ever even offered something like this to the P-Car community. Everyone said it was impossible. I've been able to help guys out in Europe and all over the US to get this stuff. If $75 is too much and you don't see the value, i understand and go buy it at your local paint store. But for me the goal was to bring something like this to the community.
Cheers,
Sid

FYI - Here in Seattle we have Automotive Paint store called Westco Automotive.
They have the computer paint match gun and get excellent results.
Years ago they computer gun matched the Jade Green (light-medium green metallic)paint on my 1953 356.
Was a perfect match and I had cans made up from the pint I ordered.
They also color matched a few 911sc's in Silver and Meteor Grey when I needed to paint the Hella H4 Headlight trim rings which lay right near the fenders. Match was always perfect.
any high end automotive paint store will have this computer gun and results should be close to perfect.
