Considering a 2011 911 GTS
First post here, but I've been lurking for awhile. Some really great knowledge on this forum.
A little about me - I'm a transplanted Texan living in Scottsdale AZ. Work in healthcare. I'm finally in a position to own one of these great cars, and have pretty much settled on an '11 or '12 gts, or possibly a used turbo.
Car would be used for work commute a couple days a week and a very occasional track day possibly.
Currently have a '13 Ford Raptor that I track on the dirt at Wild Horse Pass here in Phoenix, but the asphalt track always draws my eye....just need a car for it LOL.
There is a 2011 GTS convertible available here locally asking $79k
Is there anything I should be looking for in these cars?
Anyone in my area willing to help out?
As you can tell I'm a total Porsche noob.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hello Txflight00,
If you are looking at the triple black cab with red seat belts at the Bentley Dealership, I am too! Looks like a very good price for a low mile, 6MT, cab. PCA allows convertibles on track with the top up, as far as I've heard, so that should not be an issue. Personally, I am waiting a year or two for the prices to come down, hopefully, then make the purchase. I really like the one near you.

Sounds like a great price, I picked up a 2011 GTS cab, CPO, with 12K miles about 2 months ago - it is a special Porsche and I love it. I paid about the same as a new stripper 991 Carrera, the GTS much more tasty so I say you should go for it. My last P car was a 2004 996 - I can give you my impressions of the differences if you like.

Hi, I'm another GTS Owner in Scottsdale and Porsche North Scottsdale has a white GTS: http://scottsdale.porschedealer.com/...79817/info.php. Let me know if I can answer any questions or be of assistance.

Very nice choice for a vehicle.
Bear in mind the Cab is going to be a bit heavier ~175ish pounds and won't be quite as stiff. Not sure if that matters to you or not but it might be something worth considering. It's probably a nominal thing for most people but I felt it was worth a mention.

Hopefully it will work out. Planning to head down there in the next few days. And will definitely get some pics up if I'm lucky enough to pick her up.

For me personally, just don't get enough use out of convertibles. We've had a few over the years and my wife still has a Z4. Can't remember the last time we dropped the top. If you will get lots of use and pleasure out of it then I'd totally go for it.

So, called the dealer and found a hiccup.
Car has a history of accident damage and repair to the "rear". They were not sure of severity or what the repair was.
They are looking into it and are supposed to get back to me with a report of the damage.
Bummer. Not sure I want to invest in a car with accident history.

I really like the GTS cab, and for me, it's definitely a keeper.
