Time to check your collant tank ?
Was checking on an noisy alternator pulley and discovered this crack in my coolant tank. No leak just the evidence of impending tank failure. Car's in dry dock waiting for a new coolant tank to arrive. Glad to have found it before it became an issue and equally glad it was so easy to spot. Other pics I have seen show the cracks on the side of the tank that faces the fender well.
As my car is an '07 with 43K miles might be worth checking your 997.1's coolant tank for signs of fatigue even if it isn't showing signs of leaking.
Seems it's not a question of "if" your will your tank but "when" it will fail.

Good luck changing that tank, if you do it yourself. Either you lower the engine enough to clear the coolant tank by the fuel system, or you remove the fuel system enough to slide the coolant tank out of it's mounting bracket.
JB weld works great! Not really, but I made one attempt to change mine without doing either of the above! I think it will be easier to lower engine about 1 inche.

Is there any recommendation even to change the coolant or the hoses on these cars? Mine is about 9 years old now and no issues. Knock on wood. Good luck with the changeout.

Coolant should be changed every 4 years due to the degradation over time of additives designed to eliminate galvanic corrosion in the system. Hoses are designed to last the life of the car, how ever long that maybe. But it would be worth checking them, at least annually, at this stage in your cars life.
