Default Will lowering springs adversely affect the stock shocks?

Regarding H&R and Eibach lowering springs, has anyone experienced damage or shortened life span of their stock shocks (or any other part of the suspension)?

I am interested in lowering the car, but don't want to screw up the existing shocks and struts.

Lowering springs from H&R or Eibach won't damage factory shocks. The ride will have a touch more bounce, mostly noticeable on the highway at speeds. The severity will depend how old and worn the stock shocks are to begin with.

Plenty of people running lowering springs with no problems with the shocks, so there is obviously enough compression travel to accommodate lowering springs. FWIW I have H&R springs and actually think the ride may be better than stock. It is slightly more firmer and solid feeling, but not in a jarring way at all, less body roll when cornering and just feels right to me. I don't notice any bounce at all.

Phil, I'm about to order a set of H&R springs for my 2008 Carrera S , is there different types ? Like for example on my 91 964 I had a option of purple or red , is that the same for the 997?

For my year/model there was only one option, the "Sport" spring (blue), and I think this is the same for all 997s. There are different springs for different models, C2, C4S, etc, but only one choice of spring for each.

Champion motorsports used to sell H&R springs painted white with the Champion logo in black. Not sure if they still do.

Mine are dark blue. Normal H&R colors are; Light Grey - OE, Dark Blue - Sport, Blue - Super Sport, and Red - Race. Not sure why they are dark grey unless they or someone else paint them for some aesthetic reason. Go to the H&R web site and scroll through the springs available for the 997, the only option is "Sport".

This is what I had on both the -06 and -09 C4S. H&R sport springs in Champion livery.

If the stock shocks are toast, what brand/spec works best with lowering springs?
