Default PDR question.

First. I think this was done by the dealer a few days ago. Just noticed it today .. great. I have a PDR guy that did a previous BMW and he did a very good job. I'd rather pay him than even have the dealer do it for free.

I just want to make sure this isn't in the double walled area by the wheel well and whether this could be fixed without drilling into the door jamb. First 911 to me and within a month ... at least no paint damage I guess.

First pictures for the board too

Rough area. Too close to the edge. Probably impossible because of that.

I good PDR person can take care of that. I had similar damage to a different car close to the jamb and it turned out perfect. Now for access, you either need to strip the interior for the person to access from inside or plan on them drilling a hole in your jamb.

Could you remove that u-shaped tube that the door locks into? I'd think you could get access through there maybe.

Look for a guy that uses the suction method and get some references. I had a dent like that close to the edge on a panel of a folding BMW roof. There was no easy way to get to the underside of the metal due to the panel construction. The guy I used pulled the dent out with suction, and left absolutely no trace.

Some of those guys are pure magicians and artists. Find one of those guys.

Should this strike fear into my heart? So car is at dealer for warranty work. I told them to have the pdr guy have a look at it and let me know what he thinks.

They call me and tell me the dent was taken care of (in addition to the other work). I was planning on getting an 'opinion' and then taking it to someone that I've used before even if it cost me more or letting them go ahead if I felt comfortable with the guy.

Can we all keep our collective fingers crossed that it was done well and they didn't actually drill through anything without telling me. Oh my fingers are so crossed.

In case anyone is wondering, they got the ding/crease out. No drilling. All is good with the world.

Amazing what they can do, just yesterday I had a few dings taken out of my car - looks like new.

Glad this has a happy ending. Always a good practice to walk around the car with the service writer confirming the condition of the car (like they do at rental car outlets), when you drop off your car for service, then do the same when you pick it up, before drive it away. Saves the potential hassle of a dispute. Ask me how I know...
