Had paint, got creative

Well its...mmmm....spirited. Me, I would probably have passed on the blue and the yellow and done it all in red to pick up on the boot stitching. I may even have left the numerics black since the theme surrounding the shift **** is red and black. But, you like it and that's all that matters. Nice micro painting though. Looks factory.

It's very easy to do so I figured I'd experiment with the colors. I just masked off the silver insert, brushed the paint over the engraving, including the surrounding area, then just wiped over leaving the engraving completely filled.

I think it looks great - subtle enough with a little pop. Good job

Not sure I'd go with all the different colors but it came out really well. Have been thinking about using black or red paint on mine and had wondered what kind of paint to use so this tread has answered my question. Did you pep the area of the insert that you painted in any way to insure the paint would adhere to the metal and hold up to everyday use ?

I wiped the area down to get rid of any grease and to clear out the built up grime. Other than that, nothing else. Since the engraving is pretty deep, I don't thing the skin from the palm of the hand will ever reach into the paint to wear it out. If ever, a touch up would be simple to do.
