Limited slip differential???
I love my new (to me) 997 but there is one flaw....the diff is open. I just hate it when the inner rear starts spinning during hard cornering. This has to be fixed!!
Car is 90% street, 10% track. I think a disc type unit with 20/40% lockup would be ideal for that use...? So which unit to get?
I tried searching but couldn't really find anything comprehensive.

I got guard tbd, not a lsd. It stabilizes torque in corners under acceleration but does not stabilize car during hard braking. It is also good for AX and does not require maintenance. Disk lsd will have to be repaired from time to time if you going to track it a lot.

Yet another reason why i cannot decide to sell this car of mine, it got too much stuff done to it... I hate the idea to redo all it all over again.

Well, I called Guard a month ago, they first offered a torque biasing differential but I insisted on getting a proper limited slip (disc type) differential.
They promised to get back to me, no word yet and no response to my e-mails nor can I reach them through phone...
Maybe they don't have a suitable product for me or they are just too busy other customers...?
It seems Cargraphic has a disc type LSD for the non-GT/turbo 997. They even offer different ramps 40/60, 50/60, 50/60, 60/80%.
I think I will go with their unit with 40/60% locking, which is quite a nice compromise for a mostly street car.

Here's me on Saturday driving the **** out of the 997 on and cussing at the open diff and the crappy/greasy street tires..

It is quite rare to have a 997 carrera or carrera S with factory lsd. I was lucky to buy one of the last 997.2 Carrera S' with lsd. I don't use my car on the track but it is good to have. Some one ordered it but wound up buying a 991. I don't know if it is more common in the 997 GTS. Most people seem to go with the guards unit.

Don't all 997.2 S cars with the sport PASM option come with a LSD? Mine supposedly has one too but I get the feeling it's worn out to an open diff. I don't feel like doing a burnout to test it so I'll have to test it the next time it's on a lift.

We had a QUAIFE torsen diff fitted on one of my friends 997-1 C2S, but he will try it on track only end of May, i will tell you the results soon. Up to now he was "eating" his rear pads and disks very quickly, we will see the result after the track day.
