C2S vs C4S 997.2 value

All things being equal, how much does AWD add to the value of a 997.2?

It's hard to get a good read on this as, for the most part, no two cars are exactly the same (condition, transmission, options).

From what I can gather, a C4S is about 4-5% more than a comparable S.

That feels about right. As a $6k option, if you will, I would put a $2k to $4k value on it depending on age and condition of the car.

For MY 2009, a zero option C4S was 7% more expensive than a zero option C2S ($92.3 vs $86.2). Also, I have no data to back this up but I'd guess that the spread in current values is greater in snow country than in sunny CA.

New or used? In either case, compare the C4S zero option price to C2S brand new and the same percentage should apply. I however think that C4S is a bit rarer, and nicely optioned ones might be harder to come by, and if one is looking for something particular it may have a higher premium in used market.

Don't forget about the value of the wide hips. Very sexy. ;)

When I was shopping the C4S USED did not really have a premium over a C2S, demand for the C2S is probably greater, that is the only reason I could think of. C4S's sat on lots while C2S's seemed to sell much faster.

This was a year ago in New England

I've only just started casually looking for myself and this is exactly what I've found thus far. I'm interested in a 7.2 C2S, but would be equally happy with a C4S if I found the perfect car for the right price.

I agree, in my observations C4S are usually not more expensive than CS, and C4 usually isnt much more expensive than a base C. Of course the "S" seems to add quite a bit to the price of a used car but the 4 not so much.

That's exactly what I did, I went for the one in the best condition with the color I wanted with my must have options, the C4S/C2S to me did not play as big a part. I preferred the C2S for spirited driving, but the C4S for safety and wide body, to me they off-set each other.

I also put 1-Owner, CPO, and low mileage on my list prior to C2S/C4S

AWD is helpful when there're slick road .vs. high speed conditions i.e., snow & ice. If you're trying to get through deep snow @ low speed, try turning off traction control (you can crawl out of some gnarly predicaments). That adds a lot of value to me.

EbonyC4S 02-26-2014 11:43 PM

meant 'for me'.

interesting that there is not more demand for a c4 in New England. In new jersey and just went looking for a 997.2 c4 cabrio for the last couple of months and had not been able to find any good deals in this area. they seemed over priced and rare searching from Delaware to Connecticut. so I had to get one from Texas.
