Shakey Passenger Seat When Empty

Shakey Passenger Seat When Empty
Is it just my car, or does the back rest of your passenger seat shake while driving with the seat empty? Don't know if I should bother trying to fix it, if at all fixable.
It always catches my attention and gets kinda annoying. Doesn't shake too bad, but enough to be noticeable.

I had the same issue and found a bolt had worked its way loose. Had a chat with the Porsche Centre guy and he said that it happens occasionally.
You have to take the seat out - pretty easy. Its a good opportunity to clean underneath it. I found the previous owners watch - not a bad one either. So you never know.

I had the same problem when I bought my 2008 a few months back.
The bolt shown in the diagram acts as a pivot, so moving the seat bottom up and down applies twisting force to undo it. After searching for the lost bolt and washers on the floor under the seat and reinstalling them, I torqued it down as tight as I could with a standard Allen wrench.

Excessive passenger seat shaking may also be indicative of your engine mounts going bad. The rubber in the mounts wears and sags over time and no longer properly dampens drivetrain vibrations.

For now I'll give the seat bolt tightening a shot. Thanks for the info guys.

As tires wear the balance of them changes slightly. You can hardly feel this but as the slight vibration travel you can see them in the seat back shake. Also different road surfaces can accent this.

This is completely normal. The issue is not engine mounts, or anything like that. It has to do with how well peened the seat rails are which will impact the seat's ability to slide through the rails. The loosen they are, the higher the probability that they will vibrate when empty. I know, it can drive you nuts sometimes. We addressed this several years ago.

Remember if you remove the seat and disconnect it (the airbag weight sensor) you will need to reset the airbag light with a durametric/piwis or possibly an ob2 tool(not certain the ob2 will work,,but I think it will). I don't want anyone to trade a squeaky seat for a bright light.
