997 Prices Going up?

Another reason why earlier model (05-07) cars are depreciating is the unwillingness of banks to lend on 6-8 year old cars. Most buyers will require a considerable amount of cash or other means to do so.

Wasn't my experience. About 5 weeks ago I purchased an 07 C4S for 49k. I put 10k down and financed the rest at a local CU at 2.5%. I'm sure it helped that I have a good credit score (over 800), but I wasn't even a customer of the bank prior to the purchase.

Might be more of case in Canada. If a car is over 7 years, its hard to get a bank loan, and if you do get one the interest is high.

Looking at used 996 GT3 & 997 (all ranges) prices for the last few years. Here is my observations.
+ Older 997.1s are probably dropping since they are completely out of warranty or extended warranty, so they are more of a risky purchase. Any car over 7 years old would be in that boat.

- 07 and older are all out of cpo warranty and for the most part (2007 models that were sold in 2006) cannot be re-cpo'd (normally i dont think this is a huge problem for used cars but for the M97 engine i think it validly warrants a concern) + 13% taxes.
- 07 (being 7 years old now) and older cars will have a higher chance of having higher milage, which normally kills the resale of p-cars and/or immediately lose the buyers looking for the low-milage 'creampuffs' (such as myself).
- 6 years and older in canada its cash or go home (no lending); so again you'll lose tons of potential buyers as alot of the younger buyers (who id imaging to be looking at the older cars in the first place) simply wont have 40-50 grand (Canadian pricing)

I recently purchased a 2006 Carrera S cab and it could not have been easier to come up with financing. Inside of 5 minutes I had the money lined up at 2.19 for 5 years. They wanted to give me more money on the car to cover taxes which I declined. I don't think lenders are too worried about the age of the car as long as the value is there.
Since we are on the topic of 997 values, I will share what I paid - 38450 for 63k miles, previous CPO car (at 58k strangely), but timed out of warranty due to age. 6 speed all black, chrono plus, bose, and maybe a few other options. I did get full records and all maint. had been done and noted up to and including the 60k.
I can't figure out why they would go through the CPO process with such a short time available for warranty from date the car was placed in service.
The car is in excellent condition and I am pleased with it so far. Only downside was it came with chrome lobster wheels, I have already purchased the replacement lobster wheels that are not chrome and I will pass these on to someone who loves chrome (maybe there is someone out there?).

Spot on. My 911's are moving in polar opposite direction at the speed of light. At this point if I sold my bone stock 993 widebody with 33K miles I would never be able to get back in the 993 game.
There will never be a nice widebody 993 under $50K ever again. You can pick up my 997.2 <$50K all day long. Next month <$48. Summer <$45.....

997's from what I see are stable, my 06 C4 is still worth what I sold it for 2 years ago.
993's are on the way up
930's are going nuts! 20% in the last 6 months from what I can see, been actively looking for one for about 16months, procrastination is going to cost me dearly when I find the one I want.
Even 911's are moving up.
996 dropping but slowly, 996TT's seem to the ones getting hurt but there are lots available at the moment as well.
(not an ego post at all, but for those of you wondering, who the heck this new guy with all the ideas is, for what it's worth... I was in the car business for 20yrs, owned a few high end dealerships, a 15 year SCCA Solo II competitor and have personally owned about a dozen Porsches starting with a 68 912, to my last which was a 997 C4, so basically, I know nothing even though I think I do )
