Here is a shot of the fire burning right next to the road!

We drove on down the PCH in a somewhat subdued mood. The smoke gave the rocky coastline an otherworldly look with lots of weird lighting effects as the smoke and sun played games in the sky. We thought we would drive out of it, but it turned out that the wind was carrying the smoke all the way down the coast line. Here are some shots along the way. We focused on enjoying the twisty road but of course there were lots of minivans to contend with. What is it about driving a 911 that causes family men in minivans to drive like lunatics to try to keep you from passing them?

I have a lot more smoky photos, but I think you get the idea. On to Long Beach tomorrow.

Same phenomena in Florida except it usually involves large pickup trucks. And they tailgate too. Enjoying your journey and looking forward to the rest of it. With all the smoke and ashes around I would take a look at the cabin air filter at one time or another. Easy and cheap to replace if it looks nasty.

Thanks, I'll tell her you appreciate what she did. She's using an entry level Nikon, a D3100 I think, with super-wide 10to24 lens with a polarizer, most of the time. She would normally finish them using Lightroom, but we are not in our Knoxville condo right now and she's had to use iPhoto. Otherwise, she says they would be much better. Look good to me though!

Nice write-up, Volnomad (and pics Mrs V)!

Looking forward to the balance of the travelogue...

One Q: do you know if Barrier was the only seller of this vehicle recently or was it available for sale in the SF Bay Area?

Hi David. To my knowledge it was not available in the Bay area recently. It was in Colorado. However, it was originally owned in California 2+ years ago. Do you have any info on the car for me?

I was asked by someone back east back in November to assist with a potential purchase of a 997 in your color which was for sale at Ferarri San Francisco.

The car did not pass PPI so I never got to test drive it and I forget the details however I believe that it was a 997.2, so no, I do not believe that I have any data points re your car...

I gotta say, Nordic Gold looks nice. Not normally a color I would expect to appreciate. It's a classic Porsche color I think?
