New Years' Drive Santa Barbara County
In recognition of the first of the year those of us fortunate not to have to resort to snow tires or shovels fueled up and met at our usual coffee shop in Montecito and headed over San Marcos Pass and to parts inland--taking us through some outstanding canyons where no man has ventured before--at least at these speeds.
Pit stopped in New Cuyama (I never did see the old Cuyama) and then headed over some short mountains for Ojai via Route 33.
This group was followed by our cleanup team which took a more leisurely stroll along the back roads of Santa Barbara County.
CHP presence was very high on Route 154 (San Marcos Pass)--the highest I've ever seen but we managed to arrive unscathed.
The lead group was my lowly 997S, a 997 GTS, two Mercedes Gullwings, a 430 Ferrari, a Viper cabriolet, and a Ferrari Challenge Stradale.

Nothing like ringing in the new year with a group of friends.

Hi Dan. You guys could have stopped by my house on the central coast for a cold beverage and to catch some football scores. Happy New Year!

Would loved to have joined you...we did our own version through Moorpark, Filmore, Santa Paula, Ojai, out the 150 to Carpenteria and arriving in Santa Barbara in time for the sunset at Harbor House.

Note to self....buy sport chassis hauler, buy trailer large enough to haul 911 and 33 Outlaw to warmer location!
I got some great driving in this fall and a day here and there the last few weeks, but now the deep freeze has set in and I'm afraid I may have to actually plug my car in!!
