Car delivery etiquette
I have a car being delivered and wondered if it is customary to tip the driver?
Thanks,
Chris

I'm sure it will be appreciated.

We believe the driver pulled the steering column over too far while the car was on the tracks as it was moved into the carrier. The car drove perfectly prior to delivery but had a loose steering column after delivery... ~ 1/2" free play in the steering wheel. Luckily the p-dealer adjust the steering column under warranty. Highly suggest test driving the car before signing off on anything.

When my 356 was delivered across country, the drivers (actually a husband and wife) kept me posted, were very cooperative and professional, and I gave them $100 as a well deserved thank you.

Since it appears that you are referring to something other than a dealer or factory delivery, and the car arrives satisfactorily (no obvious issues to include grease on the leather interior) then I would consider a nice tip for taking care of your new baby!

Actually, I am buying the car from a dealer, and they arranged the transport. When I asked my sales rep how much to tip, he suggested that it wasn't necessary. He said it would be generous, but not customary. I just felt like I should…
