Yes, that's the only downside. The only reason they've done it that way is that the edges are used as your "rear fogs".

At night you don't notice it, and during the day it's 100% OEM look. I've had many ask me how come I got 997.2 rear end and 997.1 front end!

Are you saying the 997.2 lights have the "C" shaped brake light as well. I know this is a reach but I wonder if there is a mod to hook up the rear fog light to the brake switch. Who ever uses the rear fog in the US anyway? I am a very short time away from making this purchase for my 08' c2s!

Nope. 997.2 has a different rear fog. I think someone on 6speed manage to wire it so braking engaged the whole thing.

Sorry to hear about this.

As a small business owner myself, it would make sense for the seller to offer you a new set of lights at his cost plus shipping (likely 50 percent of MSRP) ... it costs him nothing, and makes you happy. I go through this periodically ... rather than extract every last penny I can out of a customer, I do what it takes to make them happy, and most of them will come back and buy again, or tell a few people which will net another sale. In a forum like this, those numbers can add up in a hurry.

Rennlist essentially can make or break a small business--as vjd suggests. I would say that good comments within this forum can lead to many sales. A few bad comments can take sales down the tubes.

Generally I'd agree with this statement, but I think the bigger issue is these lights are crapping out after 18 months. Warranty or no warranty that's a **** *** time for a brake light to last.

This is exactly how I felt.
I did not expect them to replace the light for free out of warranty, but I felt that charging me FULL retail price plus shipping was too much. They could have come back and said we'll give you $100 off retail plus shipping and I would have been fine with that.

I also agree that the lights breaking is a bigger issue. I've heard of numerous lights breaking after 18-24 months. This is concerning considering the importance of these lights primarily for brake lights.

If the lights crap out after 18 months, I would not even entertain buying the same product again, regardless of cost. You'll be in the same predicament shortly.
Find another brand, and give those a shot.
