Is there anything stopping you now? Are your studs 16" or 24" OC? You could probably very easily double up each existing stud and take out the ones in between. Slap some custom floor to ceiling panes of glass or windows and you're done.

I'd be inclined to do that but the only fear is what it would do to resale if this isn't the house you plan on keeping forever.
