Vacuum Cleaner for 997
First, I am not interested in fanatical detailing. I take my car to a detailer a couple times a year to renew the polish, but I am mostly interested in keeping my car clean and presentable for regular use.
I have been using the same vacuum cleaner we use in our home for my cars, but it leaves a lot to be desired for this purpose. I am thinking I should get a quality vacuum cleaner designed specifically for vehicular use. What works the best?

Oreck had a promo when my wife purchased a VC for the house ~2 years ago... this portable VC came with it and has worked well for the car.

A small wet/dry shop vac for about gets the job done, got mine at sears for $15. Pushes as well as pulls depending on how you attach the hose, useful for when you don't want to get the entire leaf blower. Get a basic attachment kit and that'll be all you need - nooks and crannies in this car are just like nooks and crannies in other cars, a fancy vac won't clean any better. Plus they're purpose built, it's a shop vac.

This has been my vote for the last two homes. http://hoover.com/products/details/l...tility-vacuum/
It's powerful, mounts out of the way on the wall, comes with plenty of great attachments, a long flexible hose, and is super easy to clean out once or twice a year as needed with no filters to replace. Buy it from Amazon, it's only $160. One of my favorite garage tools.

I extended the pipework from the household central vac out to the garage. It's great. Good suction, all you handle is the hose, loads of choices for crevice tools, inexpensive addition and will work forever (since we must always have a vacuum for the house anyway).

what praytell about the home vacuum is not getting it done in the car? I use the same bissel or whatever I use for my house in the car and it works just fine. Getting a vacuum specifically for the car if you are not a fanatic seems like a waste of space and money.

Cant beat a wet/dry shopvac for most everything.
For detailing, nook & crannies, blowing off water spots and filling water float toys, I use something like this.
