Anyone else find the 997.1 prettier than the 997.2?

Prefer the 997.1 looks by far, especially the front. I just can't get over the strongly pronounced LED underlining of the 997.2 headlights. If others prefer this over the older, classic, cleaner look then that's just their preference.

I guess some think Obama is a good President too. Just a matter of opinion.

It is not that easy for me to spot .1 vs .2 (I know the differences interior and out), but I definatley prefer the updated tech and PDK of the .2. Dont start a political thread. An Obama thread would get even more views/responses thank Lozzys my poor car thread.

Nobody has really broken it down this way yet so allow me.......
IT DEPENDS ON THE MODEL.
.1 vs: .2 is totally model dependant. Aerokit cars the nod goes to the .1......but C4S with the light bar across the back goes to the .2.....the interior obv goes to the .2 on most (all) but the .1 GT3 was available with a sunroof (sorta cool for a GT car) and the .2's arent available with that option. The RS model is - in my mind - a clear choice to the .1. I love the style and look of the .1 RS so much and feel the .2 RS is not as rare/raw/special. Again, all my opinions but based upon lots of looking
For "regular cars" like C2's and C2S's.....i would think it would again come down to the options ordered too. I had the pleasure of owning a BOMBED OUT 997.1 C2S Aerokit car that had everything. To me, it rocks the socks off a similarly equipped 997.2.....but again, thats just me.
LED's seem to come up a lot. To me, not THAT big of a deal. they are cool - but they arent deal breakers for me either way. On an Audi R8 they are sick --- and on the 991 they look great --- but on 911's they dont make or break the style of the car for me.
Summary --- 997.1 with the slight edge because it was a MASSIVE leap ahead of what the 911 looked like prior. 997.2 was "just" an update and while nice - didnt ruin the .1's for me.
Adios!

I agree with 99% of Pearlcoupeg35 response. I don't think he has seen a widebody 996 non of which came with anything but a full leather interior and .2 head lights.

Just FYI, you can turn the LED DRLs off using the setup menu. I run with mine off. Attracts a bit less attention.

Historically the .2 revision seems to get more aggressive than its predecessor, maybe for aero efficiency. The .2 mirrors are more aero efficient for instance.
Look at the GT3s as an example.
996.1 vs 996.2 or 997.1 vs 997.2
The .1 looked sleeker, the .2 looked more aggressive and had much better aero (downforce).
The 997.2 Carrera almost has the front end of the .1 aero kit, the intakes are much larger.
Most likely the 991.2 will look more aggressive, and the 991.1 will feel more "classic" / sleeker.
Every .2 refresh of the 911 even from the first (64-73) gen, had the refresh look more aggressive.
Look up the 64-68 cars vs 69-73 cars.
So its really a question of... do you like more aggressive designs or ones that are more subtle / classic.
A few years back when the 997.2 came out I hated the rear lights. But over the years they did grow on me, and when I had the opportunity to purchase a 997, it had to be a .2

I like every iteration of the 911 including the 996, each has its own distinctive look but they're all unmistakably 911s to even the uninitiated. Personally I like the way the straight lower edge of the .1 taillamps follows the styling cue of the straight upper and lower edge of the bumper, but it's really nitpicking, and since I own a .1 probably there's some subconscious bias going on. I'd be just as happy with a 997.2 had I been able to buy one for the same money. Not so much for the cosmetics as for the IMS-less engine and the integrated Bluetooth.
