Default Class Action Suit IMS failure

I received written notification in the mail last week about Eisen v. Porsche cars North America, Inc. www.EisenIMSSettlement.com is the website. This is for the 2001-2005 Boxster and 911 cars with IMS failure. Wonder if anyone else received this info? My car did fail and I have the new engine. This is my first info about a class action suite.

No, just up through early 2005 cars with the smaller IMSB.

The letter says "Model year 2001-2005 Porsche 911 vehicles manufactured with an IMS between May 4th, 201 and Feb 20th, 2005" excluding Turbo, GT2, GT3.

I got two of the letters. My car is included (early build MY2005) but I haven't had an IMS failure and I did have the LN replacement installed. But I lost many nights of sleep worrying about IMS failure and still worry about it since a handful of the LN single-row bearings have failed, so I really think there are grounds for compensation for mental anguish don't you?

Suit is legit and they got a really good settlement. Details (including affected VIN numbers) here: www.IMSporschesettlement.com

I still have my 05, no troubles yet, but if IMS goes in the next year, I think I am 100% covered.

Received letter. No isms failure however, yet. Have Costco warranty and now this, hopefully I’d be covered one way or another.

Will this cover future IMS failures? My 05 is A ok right now but I certainly don't want to miss the boat if it goes next year.

According to the settlement it covers future failures. If you have paid out of pocket costs for IMS related engine damage and you submit a valid and timely Claim Form, along with sufficient proof of the repair and that you incurred out of pocket costs for an IMS related engine repair or replacement, you may be eligible to receive a reimbursement payment. A properly completed Claim Form must be postmarked or otherwise transmitted by no later than October 15, 2013. If you experience an IMS condition in a Class Vehicle in the future, you may be eligible to obtain payment for the repair by promptly contacting PCNA at 1 (800) 486-9809 and arranging for PCNA to inspect your vehicle in order to confirm that an IMS condition existed that requires such a repair.

I sent an email to the law group asking for clarification on future failures. I was getting close to doing the LN engineering upgrade but maybe I will pass on that.

Handful of failures on the LN bearing? How many exactly?

I found this in the class action declaration: It sounds like what we all believed.

Discovery and investigation establishes that Porsche adopted a single row design for the IMS in 2001. The payment of warranty and goodwill claims of owners of Porsche vehicles with this design of the IMS (all Class Vehicles) spiked up to between 4% to 8% of all such Vehicles in the United States, and 4% to 10% of all Class Vehicles in California. Warranty claims for Porsche Boxster and 911 vehicles relating to IMS issues, which had different versions of the IMS, have uniformly involved claims of far less than 1% of such vehicles. Indeed, to date, Porsche has spent over $20,000,000 reimbursing customers for the parts and labor necessary to repair vehicles experiencing engine damage or failure as a result of the defective IMS shaft. (This entails approximately 3,100 claims granted under warranty or good will.)

Discovery in this matter has shown that approximately 57,929 Class Vehicles were sold in the United States, and approximately 30% of the Class Vehicles were sold in California.

You must be the original owner or bought w/ CPO. If you aren't in one of these categories your 'rebate' is just 25% of the cost to repair. Furthermore, once your 2005 is more than 10 yrs. from it's 'In-Service' date Porsche is no longer liable.
