I also posted this on the 986 forum, but considering the content- I thought you guys might enjoy also!

I thought you all might be interested in a brief overview with a few pics of the recent driving adventure my dad and I just returned from. We left from Southern Indiana and headed for route 129, aka- the tail of the dragon. The plan would be to drive the tail of the dragon on a Thursday morning (hoping for less traffic), then explore some of the surrounding roads in eastern TN & western NC.

A little on the cars:

Mine-
03 986 S:
ROW M030 Suspensioon
Aggressive Alignment
14 mm spacers front and rear
235/265 Dunlop Z1 Star Specs
GHL Exahaust
BK Roll Bar Extension
GT3 Center Console Delete
FVD Motorsport Oil Pan

Dads-
06 997 C2S:
H & R Springs with stock PASM
GT3 lower control arms
Cup Car bars with on monoball drop links
Rear Toe Arms
Aggressive Alignment
OZ Ultraleggera's 8.5 & 11 x19
235/305 Hankook V12 Evos
Tubi Exhaust
FVD Motorsport Oil Pan

We were really lucky- 129 was largely empty except for a few motorcycles. To be honest, the dragon was very exciting, but somewhat monotonous- 12-20 mph rated switchback over and over... though it was lined with professional photographers- literally! Moonshiner's 28- which runs right into 129 was more to my taste- a mix of 10-20 mph rated switchbacks with some 30-35mph rated sweepers mixed in. We ran for about 4 hours total doing the dragon 4 times in all (2x each direction) and Moonshiner's 28 3x, and we never saw one sign of law enforcement! After we were done acting like hulligans, we shot over to Asheville NC via US 74, which was an absolutely beautiful drive! After enjoying the sights and many many microbreweries in Asheville Thursday night, I headed up solo on the Blueridge Parkway (which offers positively epic views) to another less famous, though equally amazing road, HWY 226A- aka the diamondback. 226A was completely empty! Not a single car slowed me down, and the only car I passed coming the other direction was a seriously sick looking silver Boxster Spyder!!! We both waved with our loud exhausts bellowing off the mountain sides!

All in all- any amazing journey, I would definitely recommend all the aforementioned roads to all, with an especially strong endorsement for Moonshiner's 28 and 226A- the diamondback.

Great shots! It's quite a drive - now you just need a window sticker for that beast.
