Default Can't decide 991 C4S or 997.2 TT

Hi guys having had a 2002 996 TT with X50, a 2004 GT3, and a 2007 997 TT I can't decide what to get next. I really like the looks of the 991 C4S but for the same money I could get a 997.2 Turbo with PDK. I have never driven a NA 911besides the GT3 and am worried that the better looks/sound and comfier cabin will not be enough to make up for the power that I'm used to. I plan on getting a 991 TT at some point but I don't want to spend a $170K on a car I plan to use everyday in all kinds of weather so I'll be waiting a couple of years to upgrade to the 991 Turbo. Input would be appreciated.

Sounds like a nice problem to have. I do not have a turbo, but I can imagine that the addiction to power would only be quenched by more power. As long as the turbo had the creature comforts I wanted then that would be my answer.

If you are used to that power and crave for it, you will get bored of the 991 C4S quick, not that it's a slow car but it's no turbo.

Having had a 996TT and currently driving a 2010 C4S, I don't miss the extra power of a turbo as I found it largely unusable on the street. The TT had bragging rights but I enjoy the newer C4S on the street more than the older Turbo.

The 991 is going to feel slow to you, i'm sure you will like the car but it won't be the same. Get the 997 Turbo so you don't regret your decision later.

You're kidding, right? Absolutely no brainer, 997.2 TT!

It's already depreciated, it has the Mezger engine block, proven and tested, *might* be a future collector's item, faster, way more power, more exclusive than 991, much better steering feel, and a much more 911 than 991 (multiple threads on that).

it has the Mezger engine block
The 997.2 Turbo DOES NOT have the Mezger based motor.

Thanks for correcting me. Hmm, I still think TT is a better decision, although the block is not the legend no more. I was just reading up on it and seems like the 997.1 TT has a lot more potential, but if you don't care about mods, it's moot point.

Sounds like you are a power guy with the TT's and GT3. Why not do a few test drives in a 991 C4S and decide if you miss the power or perfer the new style/ride/steering/PDK. Worse case you get to play with a C4S for a while.

Daily driver? 991 C4S could be nicer. Half the gas stops and maintenance bills and Porsche would have recommended the same (if they had a soul). Been driving around one and the interior is a nicer place to be in. Not slow by any means although it might feel so. By the way, don't worry if your rear spoiler makes that noise when going up and down. This 500 mile sample I've been driving makes the same sound!

I had an '09 TT cab and the power was amazing, but only useable on freeway on ramps! For most of your "daily" driving, the C4s will be more user friendly. Having said that, if you plan to get a 991 TT in the future, I would opt for the 997 TT (Metzger or Gen 2 997) if price is the same as a 991. If you want a PDK you need to go 2010 or later (non Metzger). The stock normally aspirated engines sound better unless you are really getting on it. Gas mileage, insurance, spark plugs every 24k miles are the only other drawbacks w TT. GL, I envy you!
