Sorry offtopic.
Thanks . . . . It's just an off-the-shelf new Cayman S. I think I posted some pics on the Boxster/Cayman forum a few weeks ago. If not I will before w/e.

I've yet to see one in person - my local dealership Porsche of Destin had a party revealing the 13 Cayman last month - i've been out of town.

On another note.

I took a huge risk as a buyer with my 911 in 2009. After searching for 11 months I found the exact 997 S I had been looking for - it was a launch edition they are loaded with everything including PCCB's and only came in black. I called the buyer from Afghanistan (he was in Chicago). Two conversations and a few emails later I wired him $51,000 cash with the agreement that he would have the car delivered to my house enclosed trailer to Florida.

I wasn't even due home for another 2 months. When I got home the car was parked in my garage -mint condition with 10,067 miles just like he said and the last 4 years the car has been awesome. I got lucky.

Sounds like you got a great car & deal. I just sold my 2005 997S Launch Car w/ 'just' 28K miles last month for close to what you paid back in 2009. It was perfect but after close to 7 years of ownership I needed a change . . . hence the Cayman S.

I flew from Austin to Fayetteville - seller picked me up, I inspected the car, he had the title, we both had the same bank so I went online and transferred funds, 5 minutes later he saw the funds in his account, signed over the title and i was on my way.

Never accept any check as payment for a vehicle unless your are present at the teller when the buyer has the check drawn.
I prefer wiring funds, as this is the best method when the vehicle has a lien on it as well.
As to security, I found after a few conversations, I'm usually comfortable with the buyer/seller.
When I bought my 2009 in Houston, the seller knew I was a RL member, and not as he put it, an "axe murderer".

Thanks everyone for all the input. I have had a few more phone conversations and we are planning to meet at my bank...I am feeling more comfortable with the process.

Thanks everyone for the great info...I met the buyer at my bank, he brought a certified check and did not attempt to kill me.

+1 on the getting to know each other via phone, email (also great if another forum member like u). After initial contacts, I flew across the continent, used wire transfer that was done once I met w seller in person and had PPI done. Took a bit of time, but great for both parties.
