The paint is called "orange" or RS orange." Everything was factory painted. 30 option codes on the car, most of which have to do with paint, leather, alcantara, and stitching, along with the sport chrono, short shifter, and locking rear diff.

Nothing major, but IMO, the side decals have a major impact on the appearance of the car and compliment the stock finish on the wheels. P.S. RJT, great pics and are you an aviator as well? Jason: Nothing shabby about a CLK63 AMG, if you mean BS as bull****! lol Last run the 430 was home, he took the 991! |

Here is a pic I took today of my new (to me) C2S. Cobalt Blue, black leather sport seats, PASM, 6 spd MT, 17K miles. My 22nd P car and love it like all the rest!

I took this one of my car last night. I know black can be a pain to deal with but when you can get it like this so it looks like its liquid it is hard to beat.

Still enjoying mine. IMHO, from an aesthetic perspective there isn't a bad line on the 997's. To my eye, everything is in proportion to everything else. They're lovely to look at, and then we get to turn the key! |

Two beauties. Thanks! I can't wait to get home and drive them again, two very addictive engines in that space. Pertaining to your question - to upload photos just click reply like you normally would and then scroll down below the text box there should be a tab in the center that says 'manage attachments' click that and then it will give you an option of uploading photos from your HD. Also you can preview post to see if the image actually fits the screen before submitting. Hope that helps. |

Yes. There was some criticism when it came out, that the look was a little "over the top", too extreme, but I always loved it.
If anything, I find the 991 turbo a little disappointing in its look (not its technical characteristics!!), especially from the front. A little too bland. Which is just fine, because I cannot remotely hope to buy one, anyway :-) |

Gentlemen, you took the words right out of my mouth...
Driving down the road is another test... I do not lip-read, but now I can recognize the word "Porsche" when pedestrians (usually a father with his 6-to-18 year old son) pronounces it, points and attracts his offspring's attention. I always think "here is the next generation of Porschist being trained..." I have never had a rude or aggressive gesture... Porsche is just instantly recognisable.... and likeable. |

Lovely orange Turbo... you guys seem to be more daring, colour wise, than we are, in Europe. I had never seen the stock wheels in black...
Here , it's just black, dark blue and grey... nice colours, but when 9 out of 10 are like that, it gets tedious. ---------------- ....haven't got my wheels yet, so I'll show only the dash et back. Techart steering wheel (really amazing difference it makes to the touch) , aluminium pedals, short shift (can't see that...) . Exhaust and 100 cpi catalytic converters; Techart N°1 rear spoiler. In 10 days, the black Vog'Art wheels and Techart sports clutch (stock clutch decided that the Techart 550hp prep was too much... and started slipping in high gears) |

This gave me the opportunity to drive to Stuttgart, visit the Porsche factory, the Museum, and see the Techart workshops... very impressive. Very professional. the wheels, on the other hand, are Vog'Art forged black wheels, as the Techart wheels (even with the good discount they were offering me) remained ridiculously expensive. And I told them so... :roflmao: The 550hp (553 to be accurate, on the rolling road test) have transformed my car into an animal. Given the price of the 991 TT, it was the perfect option for my limited budget ! I personally find that the 991TT has less "personality" in her looks. It is, obviously, a fabulous car too, but the 997 remains iconic !! 997 is the message from Porsche to their clients "we hear you!!" when we all screamed at them "a 911 has round headlights, period" 997 is an amazing intemporal design, which will not become a classic only because they sold so many of them... :) (the price of success!!) |

And agree, the shape of the 997 is nicer than the 991 IMO. Am sure 993 owners feel the same about their cars relative to the 996/7/1's though... |

But it wasn't sour grapes... the 991S is gorgeous, but the signature "eyebrow" front lights disappeared on the Turbo, which therefore lacks that "991 special look". But of course, if I could spare 200K€, I would get a 991 TurboS !... instead, I went to Techart's and put 550hp in mine... it will keep me happy for now :) Do you have pics of your interior (I mean your car, not your home :roflmao: ) |

Actually, my 2nd favourite. The original owner spent crazy $$ on factory options like deviated stitching everywhere, factory painted almost everywhere inside same colour as exterior, which is a PTS. The front bumper was changed by me. It OE from a TT.

Now, is it an aftermarket bumper (and who sell it) or a simple GT2RS added to a TT... I am beginning to like it, and my beauty could do with a touch of improvement at the front... particularly as it would be complimented by the white. |
Bumpers
The Brown 997 is a TT w a Rennline smile added.
The Blue C4S Targa, I changed the bumper to a used TT bumper w lights and a Rennline smile. On the TT bumper, its only the lights that are very expensive, try to buy a bumper thatsalready complete. |

^^ im pretty sure its an oem gts/sport classic bumper... it can be purchased at suncoast parts around 2800$ i believe.

I was (no, I am ) referring to the bumper of the brown Turbo 2 or 3 posts before. The one with the "smile" vent at the top of the bumper, which unless I am mistaken was only ever seen on the GT3 and the GT2RS. I am considering it for mine... :burnout: |
ahhh yes now i understand. the brown one is a oem turbo bumper with the gt3 upper air grille. its about 40$ from suncoast.

So what are the rules for this thread? Can I post another picture of the same car, or do I have to go buy another 997 if I want to post another picture? :)
Here goes...same car as post #28, this time with some fall color (which ain't that easy to find down here...). Cobalt blue '08 C2S. I got the colored crests for the wheels since the last picture, so I'll use that as justification for posting a second one. Attachment 785444 |

i think the grill glues/sticks onto the front bumper via double sided 3m tape. i dont think there are 'cuts' required. although i could be 100% mistaken as i havvent done this myself.

for now, I am facing a week without "her"... :crying: I'll try and post pics of the work in progress... clutch is quite a job, I am told. but it's a Techart track-clutch, so it will handle the extra cavalry... I saw the Bridgestones on the wheels yesterday... love the look. Can't wait to have them on the car. then, depending on how they sit (the ET coefficient is slightly different), I am thinking of 5mm spacers (sorry, no idea what 5 millimeters is in Dollars :D ) Then I'll post photos and you all can tell me whether she needs that black GT2RS top front bumper grille or not. This does feel like Christmas !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

But seriously, yes, I have heard some reservations about everyday road use of these seats. They are really designed for the GT3, a car that few people use on a daily basis. Can you still do 500 Miles in a day and actually get out of the car unassisted  Having said that, they look (and probably cost) like a Million $$. On the minus side, losing all the back, spine, side adjustable seats, AND the seat memory depepnding on who's driving... that IS a lot to lose... can't have everything, I suppose. -------------------------------------------------------------------- on the home front, the wheels are ready, the track clutch being fitted... I am drooling... |

JeanLouis - I drove it every day up in Delaware for 10 months and it was excellent took about a week in Houston to realise the road conditions & surfaces around town are not so good .... Further the car is lowered so a bit of a problem getting up ramps into parking areas - so back to the Cayenne as the daily...
Just had Mike Callas @ Rennsport set the car up for a wee more track time - so that's where I'll be heading next year.... |

Just had Mike Callas @ Rennsport set the car up for a wee more track time - so that's where I'll be heading next year.... the TT (553 on the rolling road), but I remain aware that the Turbo suffers on the track, so I book track days... There a chap here who races Cup cars, and he organises track days with his previous year's Cup to finance his next season. I am hooked! The cup isn't really any more powerful but it is set up "track only" and I keep going back for more. And I can't afford to buy and maintain two Porsches. Pic 1 >I am addicted to the 'Cup'... enough grip to lift the inside wheel... 2> same day... the Turbo showing its limits. I just can't reach the same trajectories... |

I was told the previous owner of the GT3 traded it in for a 991 Carrera with PDK. After experiencing those roads and traffic I can't blame him for making the switch. Traffic and road conditions can make or break the fun factor of the higher strung cars. |

As I explained here, I was faced with the choice of a used 991S , but the loss of power put me off... the new 991 Turbo S and its stratospheric price tag (out of my league) , and spend good money to update this one. I chose the last option; I made today the first pics of the finished product... the only things you can't see... 553HP, track clutch, short travel gear stick... |

They came stock on the -09 C4S launch car which I have as a DD. I've not done 500 miles in a day but 350 with no issues at all. The seat is very comfortable once you're in it and I think it gets an undeserved bad rap from people who for whatever reason have trouble getting in and out of it but never accumulated any actual road miles. Aside from the comfort factor, they add a level of connectivity with the car that just can't be achieved with any other stock seat. I'm 6'3" and like to spread out in the car. With the seat all the way back, it's very close to where I would put it if it was adjustable. Perfect for me would be just a bit more tilt to the back which can be done by adjusting the floor mountings.

Though not a great environment to take pictures., here is my (new to me) Targa 4S PDK, and the car it is replacing. While the RX-8 doesn't have anywhere near the power of the 911, after having to go back to the RX-8 for a few weeks after my new car's transport plate lapsed, I was pleasantly surprised how fun the the old car (6 speed) was to drive and how well it handled. Wish I could keep both, but I'm looking forward to really getting to know the 4S once I can drive it again.
I actually believe a good amount of RX-8 drivers graduate to a 911 as their next car (both being the same size and having 4 seats) In many way I feel the RX-8 and specifically the 997 Targa version of the 911 both exhibit form follows function as far as the styling. The RX-8 had to compromise its design cues to incorporate the rear suicide doors and I feel the Targa roof line is very similar in the sense that it's a compromise on the coupe's sexy rear roofline. My point being both are a welcome trade off (for me anyway) for the added versatility. I did have to warn friends the last very time they were to be in the back seats of the RX-8 that it would feel like a limousine compared to the rear seats of the new car I was getting. |
