Default The time is near...

apocalyptic condition for my wallet and redemption from driving my wife's mini-van i'm on the final stages of acquiring my first porsche. and always been grateful to rennlist community for being helpful and accommodating - posted questions about getting a certain 997 and just recently with all the blessing of my lovely wife she wanted the new 991. fortunately, i was able to persuade her back to 997 because of budget constraints and i don't want to apply for financing.... still standing by - if you can't pay, don't play.

one of the benefits from reading and amassing knowledge from the post is not settling for less. initially, i just wanted the bang for the buck 997.2 regardless of the designation, options, mileage... as long as it runs smoothly and reliably. the 997.2 that i'm about to get has most that I wanted - C2S, sports seats, sports chrono... PSE was a long shot but never found one within my mid 50s budget.

some sort of test from summing up what i learned. kindly correct and advise if i missed something.

1. test drive and ocular inspection
- DONE

2. PPI
- next week i told the seller that my offer still depends from the result and hopefully a good one. it's a launch car with mid 20K mileage, do i need to ask for compression test?
- still looking for dependable PPI around bay area

3. extended warranty shopping
- currently i have these quote and waiting for other dealership to chime in:
Fidelity Platinum
5 years (60k mi) = $4174
3 years (36k mi) = $2788

4. DMV
- pay taxes, registrations etc

5. buy first upgrade.... RENNLIST MEMBERSHIP

If all checks out, sounds like a great deal! Color?

Congrats! You will LOVE this car. I smile every time I look at it, sometimes I just sit in it at night and take in the smell of the interior. And then there is driving it...

Petrvspetrvs,
thanks, it's almost 10 years not having my own car and the excitement builds up everyday i think i need to bring my couch in the garage for hours just staring at it... just like old times

ksozay,
thanks! PRG, not my top pick but love the subtleness when i saw it in the flesh. same routine i did with my previous car... after detailing, i just seat down and relax
btw nice 997.2! i love the contrast from white and black stone guards + FUCHS!!! if you dont mind where'd you got the fuchs? SC fuchs or the FP1s?

Sport Classics, sourced them from the dealer as I got a decent price by adding them as part of the deal. I would check Suncoast as they have pretty good pricing.

Keep in mind that the Sport Classics are not manufactured by Otto Fuchs for the 997. They are cast wheels. Otto Fuchs does make a classic windmill pattern that is forged and updated to the 997 dimensions and that they run about 3500 Euros for a set of four--2 are 8.5x19 and 2 are 11x19.

Here's a link: http://www.gmpperformance.com/index....eel&PID=226722

Domestic pricing is $1250 for each front, and $1325 for each rear.
Offset are 56mm for the fronts and 51mm for the rears. I believe they will need a 13mm spacer to make them correct for the NB cars.

Ah! Good option! I saw a set of the Sport Classics on a Speedster at the dealership and had to have them. Love the wheels but would have been nice to have seen other options. I'd REALLY like to see a set in polished silver and not just the black. I've been toying with the idea of getting a second set in silver to see how they'd look.

Dan i think the spacers will make it worst for a nb. Those offsets are for wide body that would simply make a nb look bad. Spacers will push the wheels out some more.

Update:
Scheduling for PPI - still deciding between Heyer and RMG. Scheduling will play a big role. Both are equally praised and been excellent on assisting me with my questions.

Next stop: extended warranty.

Ksozay,
That sounds a great deal! Love that kind of negotiation where tangible objects are thrown in to make the price sweeter

Edgy01,
Thanks for the link, I was wondering where to get the otto fuchs. Another forged wheel im interested was the fp1 with satin center and lip and black spokes.

Hella-buggin,
Definitely a yes

Ecs tuning,
Thanks!
